There are also games where those involved get a chance to reduce their debt by revealing their friend's deepest secrets. In a way, it's similar to the Squid Game but without the violence.

2. Unpredictable Characters

The story of Tomodachi Game is about five high school students who are kidnapped because one of them has a debt of 200 million yen. Each of these five characters has a distinct personality and each brings something different, which creates a very interesting dynamic between characters who are increasingly distrustful of one another.

Main character, Katagiri Yuuichi, is a relatively quiet man who spends most of his time outside of school working part time to make ends meet. So he is not only aware of the importance of money, but he is also quite diligent in making and using money.

Despite his busy life making money, Yuuichi really cares about his friends and never doubts them. As the game progresses, Yuuichi's true personality will slowly but surely come to the fore. Not only him, but Yuuichi's other friends will also show their true selves until they betray each other.

As the story progresses, each character will become very unpredictable which adds to the tension in the series.

3. Why Should You Watch This Series?

Good thriller anime is getting harder to come by. Most seasonal anime are action, comedy, romance or isekai. There may be slight variations, but for the most part, it's just a big genre. In 2022 it is fortunately a little different.

Tomodachi Game has an interesting story and it is worth seeing how the story is executed. The series doesn't need to rely on violence to tell a compelling story, and it doesn't shy away from deception and truth-telling.
