Avatar: The Way of Water is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and rightly so. Even though the first movie was released a long time ago, the second one is still eagerly awaited. The story of Jake and Neytiri continues in the sequel and the storyline is really suspenseful.

They escape to the coast of Pandora and try to start a new chapter in a stunning setting. This movie has a duration of three hours which is certainly very long for some people. This made many spectators miss a few moments. Curious? Here is the review.

Differences between Omiticaya and Metkayina

Considering the fact that in Pandora's world, there are many clans that belong to certain regions so it makes sense that Metkayina looks different from Omiticaya. From an evolutionary point of view, their physical differences were essential for their survival.

The Oceanic has a lighter bluish-green skin tone. They have larger rib cage for better lung capacity, finned calves, forearms, and tail for faster swimming, and even have a third eyelid for sideways blinking. Although some people understand, it turns out that many don't understand this too.

Eywa and Kiri

For those paying attention to Sanskrit, it should come as no surprise to learn that "Avatar" is a Sanskrit word related to the representation of a god. That fact seems even more significant in the sequel because of Kiri's connection to Eywa that his existence makes sense.

Kiri is such an important character in the sequels that many theorize that Kiri is the Avatar for Eywa.

Kiri Wears Her Mother's Necklace

Viewers who paid attention to the costumes and accessories in the first movie may notice that the necklace that Grace Augustine wears is Na'vi jewelry. Grace not only wore a Na'vi necklace, but she also received one from her late sister, Neytiri.

Of course, Grace didn't return in the sequel. However, Kiri is seen wearing Grace's necklace throughout the movie. This is certainly a moving and touching detail.

Na’Vi Cannot Speak in English

Some viewers may notice that oddly enough, though the Na'vi communicate with each other throughout most of the movie in English. At the beginning of the movie, Jake tells what happened in the first movie.

Viewers may hear the Na'vi speak in English, but the characters communicate in their native dialect. In essence, they don't use English except for the purposes of the movie so that the audience understands.

Sully’s Children Finger

One of the few differences between the Avatar bodies used by humans and individual Na'vi is the number of fingers they have. Jake has five fingers, while Neytiri and other Na'vi have four.

Two of Jake and Neytiri's biological children, Tuk and Neteyam, have four fingers, while their middle son Lo'ak and adopted daughter Kiri have five. This is a small detail but many viewers forget.

Titanic Reference

One of the things that made James Cameron famous was the Titanic. While there are several threads from this tragic romance sequel, one of the most obvious is the whaling ship sinking with the people trapped on board towards the end of Way of Water.

This may be similar to a similar scene in the 1997 movie where the character trudges through a rapidly flooding corridor as the ship sinks in the Titanic.

Kiri’s Existence Is a Miracle

Jake and Neytiri's adopted daughter is far more special than viewers might realize. From his perfect conception, Jake confirmed that her birth was a miracle. Born from the body of the avatar of Grace Augustine, she is clearly a gift from Eywa.

Throughout the movie, she struggles to understand her relationship with Eywa herself and why she seems to be able to communicate with god-like beings better than anyone else.
