Tank junglers have made a triumphant return. Following the latest Mobile Legends patch update, Geek Fam have showcased a long-forgotten META by bringing back the tank jungler strategy—and they have proven it still works.
As we have known, Geek Fam have long been associated with healer-based comps and tank junglers. They seem to have realized early on that this new patch could play to their strengths.
They have adapted quickly, capitalizing on changes that many other teams—including NaVi—have not yet fully understood. NaVi have looked unconvincing in their approach. While they have not performed terribly, they have failed to outplay Geek Fam’s surprise strategy.
It has come as no surprise that Geek Fam have dominated the series and secured a clean 2-0 victory.
Game 1 – Geek Fam Have Used the Patch to Their Advantage
Geek Fam’s draft has looked completely different from the current meta. They have made use of multiple heroes that received adjustments in the patch, proving how fast their adaptation has been.
No one would have expected Geek Fam to immediately run the UBE META featuring Floryn and Fredrinn—especially since Floryn hadn’t made an MPL appearance since Season 13.
Not only that, Fredrinn and Novaria were picked in the first phase, a clear signal that these buffed heroes were strong enough to carry a game. Geek Fam’s teamfight power and dive potential have looked overwhelming.
NaVi have had no answers. Drafting mostly meta picks from the previous patch—except for Clint—NaVi have been outclassed. Despite Granger having been nerfed, Caderaa has made him look overpowered once again. Geek Fam have taken a convincing 1-0 lead.
Game 2 – Geek Fam Have Stayed One Step Ahead
In Game 2, NaVi have attempted to replicate the Fredrinn–Novaria combo. Unfortunately, their version has lacked effectiveness due to the absence of a healer. They have chosen Chou as their roamer instead of Floryn, which resulted in disjointed team coordination.
Geek Fam, on the other hand, have looked much more cohesive, especially with Suyou’s clean performance and perfect synergy in skirmishes.
Granger has continued to dominate, while even the newly-buffed Natan on NaVi’s side has failed to keep up. NaVi have struggled to match the raw teamfight strength of Phoveus in the hands of Gobs, who brought consistent long-range crowd control.
This match has clearly shown that while the tank jungler META is back, it does not guarantee victory. Its effectiveness still depends heavily on execution and the team’s ability to adapt.
