Counter Heroes Against Pudge

As mentioned before, Pudge DOTA 2 is only powerful during the early and mid game. Therefore, it is important to counter Pudge by playing these heroes slowly during the early and mid game, then going all-out near during late game. This adds to the fact that Pudge is not as powerful when playing as a core hero.

1. Templar Assassin

Under different circumstances, Pudge DOTA 2 is an effective counter hero against Templar Assassin during the laning phase. However, beyond that the Templar Assassin can quite easily counter him with massive damage.

Although Pudge DOTA 2 has generally huge health points, he can be rather lacking in armor on occasion. For Templar Assassin, that lack of armor is the advantage he can take to beat Pudge during the late game.

2. Lifestealer

As Pudge’s counter and his archnemesis since DOTA 1 era, Lifestealer has the edge in terms of his huge damage output against powerful enemies. Considering Pudge DOTA 2 is a typical melee hero with big power, he’s an easy target for Lifestealer.

3. Timbersaw

Seeing Timbersaw as a counter hero against Pudge may seem bizarre to many players who know the average counter heroes. However, Timbersaw is objectively a powerful hero against every kind of hero in DOTA due to his ability to inflict purely physical damage.

Because Pudge DOTA 2 is a physically capable hero, Timbersaw’s pure damage is effective to take down Pudge even if he has a lot of HP.
