For those of you who spend most of your time playing Ragnarok X: Next Generation, you must be familiar with Hollgrehenn, the legendary NPC in Prontera often becomes the reason for many Ragnarok players to stop playing the game after having their equipment destroyed or lost.

Hollgrehenn actually has an interesting backstory. Hollgrehenn is an expert blacksmith who makes weapons. He believes his ability has surpassed his master, and that’s why he may come across as arrogant.

When he found out that the apprentice has become so smug, Hayward, Hollgrehenn’s mentor, challenged him to go up against the powerful, almost undefeatable monster, named Garm.

If Hollgrehenn could forge a weapon that’s capable of cutting the furs of Garm, Hollgrehenn would be acknowledged as a master blacksmith.

Since then, Hollgrehenn began collecting the best materials to make the perfect weapon. And he’s so convinced that his weapon would be able to defeat Garm.

Eventually, Hollgrehenn began his journey to find and defeat Garm. When he finally encountered Garm, he swung his weapon until he heard a loud noise, and found out that his weapon broke. He then decided to leave the place as he failed to defeat Garm.

Hollgrehenn contemplated how his weapon, which was made of the best materials, could easily get destroyed by Garm. He then began to do research and found out that there’s a mineral with high purity that will be able to increase the performance of weapons.

After years of looking for said mineral, he finally found the Rough Oridecon in Payon Cave. Then he started to repair and improve his weapon with Rough Oridecon and returned to fight Garm. This time, he managed to cut Garm’s fur as his mentor asked him to.

However, Hollgrehenn wasn’t satisfied as he’s not able to defeat Garm. He did another research to find Oridecon to further increase the effectiveness of his weapon. He later came back to fight Garm and was able to defeat it. He managed to prove his worth to his mentor.

Currently, Hollgrehenn aims to help the people of Prontera by increasing the performance and power of their weapons. So, that’s the backstory of Hollgrehenn, the expert blacksmith in Ragnarok X: Next Generation.
