Guerrilla Games has released the launch trailer for Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, a DLC for PlayStation 5 that is slated for a release on April 19, 2023. Apart from that, the developer also teases players with boss battles, which seem going to be quite challenging through the latest trailer. In the upcoming DLC, Aloy will meet new allies in her adventures as she fights and successfully reclaims a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles from a new threat. You can watch the trailer for the new Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores below:
Horizon Forbidden West was launched for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 last year with various sequels, such as Horizon Zero Dawn. Although this time, Aloy's adventures in this title is only available on the last and most recent generation of consoles from Sony, namely the PlayStation 5.
Not to mention that it seems like the latest trailer is packed to show the developer's efforts to leave the PlayStation 4 behind, teasing players with snippets of a huge, tentacled boss fight right before the trailer ends.
In a post on the PlayStation.Blog last month, game director Mathijs de Jonge added regarding the details that will only be available in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, “the ruined landscape of LA and its surroundings will be extremely detailed and will require a lot of processing power and streaming technology to run properly; especially when players fly above it and can see a lot at once (the landscape).” Mathijs de Jonge also mentioned the reason for only making Burning Shores DLC available for the PS5, "One other important thing is certain battle scenes require a lot of memory and processing power, to achieve this grand vision both technically and creatively, we are very grateful for the many advantages that brought by the PS5 hardware.” de Jonge said.
It seems that the reason the developer chose for Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is in the interest of the best quality that the developer wants to provide for fans. It's a shame that PlayStation 4 players won't be able to enjoy this upcoming DLC. However, PlayStation 5 players can enjoy the continuation of Aloy's adventures in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, which is slated for a release on April 19.
