Gaia’s Vengeance is the latest VALORANT skin line that comes with the Episode 4 Act II update. Gaia’s Vengeance was born from the magical woods that grew long before mankind came to power. Having the power to create or rob lives, its twisted roots harness crystals from the soil to protect the forest from those that seek to bring harm.

Gaia’s Vengeance’s Design Objective
The devs wanted Gaia’s Vengeance to give the impression of something both magical and mystical. Something ancient and powerful that draws its power deep from an enchanted forest.
“We don’t have many skins that are gentle and elegant—perhaps the closest thing is Sovereign. However, unlike Sovereign, Gaia’s Vengeance has a rather gloomy vibe. This is perhaps more clearly felt through the audio for the Final and Banner Kill. We could have made a skin line based on a forest theme and taken it in a lot of directions, but the team found this really wonderful blend of mysterious, magical, intricate, and powerful. We named the skin after we’d completed work on it, so at that point, we really felt its balance of elegance and danger—a kind of haunting beauty,” said Preeti Khanolkar, Senior Producer Riot Games.

The Inspiration for the Design
“We initially took the inspiration from the old weapon concept made of ivory roots and red crystal, which we feel gives a lot of options for the skin line. It reminds us of ancient forests of fairy tales, books, fantasy epics, art, and game,” Sean Marino, Associate Art Director Riot Games.
Challenges
“This skin was initially planned to ship without any features, which means no reload, equip, or inspect effects. However, the team was really excited about the skin and saw a lot of potentials, so we decided to delay it and rework the concept to fit a more ambitious idea. We even went as far as to design a tree for the Finisher, which we then tweaked so that each Variant has its own custom Finisher! We also used some custom crystal materials for the base and Variant skins to embody the magical elements of this skin,” Sean Marino, Associate Art Director Riot Games.
