Erwin Smith was the 13th commander of the Survey Corps widely respected for his brilliance and leadership. While he cared for his subordinates, Erwin didn’t hesitate to sacrifice them for the greater good of humanity -- they also willingly put their life on the line on his order.

Survey Corps will not be Divided

As we all know, Erwin was a respected figure in the Survey Corps. So him inheriting Colossal Titan may keep the corps glued together and not divided like what we have today. Even if Eren does betray them, he will have a hard time doing so because Yeagerist will never exist -- no one will aid Eren’s betrayal act.

If Eren managed to betray the Survey Corps, Erwin and his men will find a way to stop them.

Erwin will Oppose Genocide

Although Erwin may seem like he has the same goal as Eren, his real goal from the beginning is to eradicate Titan, not use the Titan to destroy everything. So Erwin may oppose using Rumbling to genocide the world.

With his brilliant brain, Erwin will find another solution to this problem, like using Marley as a scapegoat and restore Eldia’s name.

Or Erwin may agree on using Rumbling, but to solely destroy Marley because Erwin said that he wanted to get rid of the threats, not completely erasing it.

Eren May Hate the Survey Corps

With Erwin living and Armin’s death, it’s possible that Eren will hate the Survey Corps and betray them sooner than the current situation and think to attack Marley and do Rumbling on his own.

With Eren hating on the Survey Corps, the situation will be even worse and chaotic.

Paradis Island still at War with Marley

From the start, Marley was the cause for everything. So the war between Paradis and Marley will still happen. But rather than ordering a genocide against Marley, Erwin will find another way. Because we all know that Erwin can find a scapegoat to win the war.

Will Erwin love Annie?

Inheriting the past owner’s memory may affect someone, like what happens to Armin after inheriting the Colossal Titan. As we all know, Armin loves Annie because he is affected by Bertholdt’s memories.

If Erwin inherits the Colossal Titan, will he love Annie? The answer is no because Erwin is mentally stronger and he is much more driven toward his goal than Armin.
