Now almost everyone can become a vlogger and YouTuber. You can make a video and upload it to a media with a schedule, and you are now a YouTuber. But, there’s a way to make a unique video that’s different from others: use anime character as an avatar! This is what people call Virtual YouTubers or VTuber. Psst, it’s different from virtual reality!
Don’t be surprised when knowing that Virtual YouTubers come from Japan since they are identic with dressing up as anime characters. Still, as time passes and their popularity grows, American, Chinese, and even Indonesian VTubers start to appear. So, let’s dig deeper about them so we can know more about Virtual YouTubers!
What Separates Virtual YouTubers with Regular YouTubers?
In practice, they are like other YouTubers; they appear in video talking and recording various contents, such as heart-to-heart content, challenges, singing, dancing, and playing games. What makes it different is the ‘host’. If, in regular YouTube videos, you only see an individual leading the content, then here you see an anime character.
Basically, this anime character is moved by humans too. They use motion capture cameras and record the model’s action and make it into the anime character. This is called motion capture.
What Makes Them Popular?
VTuber popularity grows at the end of last year. Initially, Kizuna Ai is the only famous Virtual YouTuber -- even referred to as the trendsetter. Then, other VTuber starts appearing in December 2017.
The sudden increase in fame is caused by people who are bored with watching regular YouTubers. The appearance of a new and unique virtual figure makes people intrigued.
The Difference Between Virtual YouTubers with Anime Character?
Obviously, they are different!
The most striking difference is that VTubers have personalities compared to an anime character that’s created to follow the plot of an anime. Also, on occasion, Virtual YouTubers make direct interaction with the audience during a live stream. Anime Characters can’t. Can you imagine Naruto live streaming PUBG on YouTube?
Kenapa Mereka Tampil Sebagai Virtual YouTuber dan Bukan Diri Sendiri?
People think that VTubers are individuals that want to express themselves in a video, but they are too shy to show their faces in front of a camera to the public. With an anime character as an avatar, they gain more confidence.
So, what do you think, guys? Are you interested in knowing more about the Virtual YouTuber trend? Virtual YouTubers can also become a way for you to make a living. Are you interested in trying it?
