Every MMORPG player would understandably want to make their character stronger and looks cool. They are willing to spend a lot of money to achieve those. Just as this gamer from China, but it didn’t go well for him.
A gamer who plays a well-known MMORPG game in China called Justice Online sacrificed $1.4 million (equivalent to Rp19,7 billion) in microtransactions - a fantastic amount to upgrade a character in a game.
With good intentions, that gamer lent his wealthy account to his friend. Alas, his friend, tried to sell the account for $55,000 (equivalent to Rp776,000,000) instead. Even worse, the pricey account was accidentally sold for only $552 (equivalent to Rp7,700,000).
This incident became known to the owner of the account and made him furious. He immediately sued his so-called friend and the developer of Justice Online, NetEase, to the court. In court, the friend who sold the account claimed that the low price was due to a writing error due to fatigue after hours of gaming marathon.
Fortunately, NetEase was willing to cooperate and reversed the sale of the account, and it’s finally got back into the owner’s hands. But, he must pay a compensation of $12,000 (equivalent to Rp180,000,000) in damages to the player who briefly bought the account.
Looking at this incident, you should reconsider if you want to lend an account to a friend, especially if you have done microtransactions in a large amount. Be careful, guys!
