Geek Fam have emerged as one of the most impressive teams in MPL ID Season 15. Despite not being considered favorites and often underrated, Geek Fam have secured at least a top-three finish.

They are set to play in the lower bracket final later this evening, with a golden opportunity to earn a ticket to MSC EWC 2025 if they manage to defeat RRQ Hoshi.

The GeekFamunity were left tense when Geek Fam fell short 3-1 against ONIC in the upper bracket. The match against Alter Ego became a turning point. Many fans had expected AE to win after their dominant performance over Bigetron.

In reality, it was Geek Fam who had taken away more from their loss to ONIC. They completely shut down AE and secured a dominant 3-0 sweep — the only clean sweep in the entire MPL ID S15 playoffs.

Now, they will face RRQ with renewed motivation and a stronger mindset. Playing at the Velodrome has also served as a meaningful reminder. Back in Season 11, Geek Fam had nearly qualified for MSC before suffering a reverse sweep from EVOS in the exact same stage — the lower bracket final.

Losing to ONIC Was a Blessing in Disguise for Geek Fam

In a post-match press conference, Baloyskie shared that their loss against ONIC had provided valuable lessons.

When they lost to ONIC, Geek Fam had nearly stolen Game 4. But after overcommitting to the enemy base, they were wiped out by Kairi’s Ling, and ONIC closed out the match 3-1.

Tightening up their end-game execution became a core focus for Geek Fam — and against Alter Ego, that refinement paid off, as they denied their opponents any room to breathe.

"The loss to ONIC was quite important. Because after that, when we got home, we scrimmed right away. Every time we played, we kept talking about how to end properly and how to close out the game," said Baloyskie in response to a question from Dunia Games.

"We even joked around about the ONIC loss. But because of that loss, we became more disciplined about how to end the game," he added.

"We still have things to fix and we’ll need to expand our hero pool for the next match. We’ll be watching and learning," he concluded.
