Nobuhiko Okamoto is known for his loud, aggressive, and explosive voice. Here are some of the iconic anime characters voiced by the seiyuu.
Anime & Manga | 11 October
Nobuhiko Okamoto is one of the most popular seiyuu known for his aggressive, brash characters. These characters tend to be hyperactive and are popular among fans as their voices give color to the series.
Okamoto, with his distinctive voice, has voiced numerous anime characters, from quiet characters to loud ones. On this occasion, Dunia Games would like to give you a list of the best anime characters voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto. Without further ado, let’s get into it.
1. Khun Aguero Agnes, Tower of God
Khun is a highly intelligent character in the Tower of God series. Khun is quite different from most characters Okamoto has voiced so far as he is exceptionally cunning and emotionally stable – he rarely shows his emotions.
Unlike most characters voiced by Okamoto, Khun is a character who’s really mature and thoughtful due to his harsh upbringing. According to him, he has the mindset of a ruler who inspires people to believe and follow him.
2. Ryou Kurokiba, Shokugeki no Souma
Totsuki Academy in Shokugeki no Souma is full of the next generation of the best gourmet chefs. One of the best chefs, Ryou Kurokiba, is a spice expert. Ryou is willing to fight for what he has and sees the kitchen as a battlefield.
Ryou is normally calm and composed, but when he wears his trademark red bandana, he turns aggressive and relentless. An aggressive Ryou really shows Okamoto’s voice range and intimidates other characters around him.
3. Karma Akabane, Ansatsu Kyoshitsu
Assassination Classroom follows the story of Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Middle School and their new teacher from outer space. The students are assigned by their teacher to try and kill him before the time limit runs out.
Karma is a student who’s suspended for his sadistic behavior. He enjoys manipulating and fighting others, but always seems to be lazy and will instantly leave the room when he feels bored.
He’s an exceptional assassin who’s obsessed with finding a way to kill his teacher yet shows his sensitive side towards the end of the series.
4. Yu Nishinoya, Haikyuu!!
Haikyuu!! follows Karasuno Volleyball club. One of the characters is Nishinoya, the libero of the team. Nishinoya is small in stature and highly aggressive. His introduction episode is one of the best episodes in Haikyuu!!.
Nishinoya is very energetic, he comes up with unique names for his techniques, yet instantly feels insecure when everyone laughs at him for that. Getting embarrassed for his own excitement is a common trait of Okamoto’s character, but one that fans love, as they all always seem enthusiastic.
5. Bakugo Katsuki, Boku no Hero Academia
Bakugo is a student at the U.A. High School, a place where the next generation of superheroes prepares themselves for real tasks. Bakugo’s heroism is questionable, especially in comparison to Midoriya, who’s always kind to other people around him. However, he is persistent in any fight, and probably the most resilient student in Class 1-A, winning the school festival and working in a team.
Okamoto’s voice is a perfect match for Bakugo given the hero’s fiery personality, who easily loses his temper when someone makes the slightest insult to him. Bakugo is a classic Okamoto character: he’s passionate, tough, and thoughtful despite seeming aggressive.
6. Takumi Usui, Kaichou wa Maid Sama
In one of the best romantic comedy anime series, Usui sees the school's student council president, Misaki, working at a maid cafe. Misaki's impeccable reputation at school is in danger of collapsing if anyone finds out about her job, given that she needs to make ends meet, Misaki makes Usui promise to keep her secret.
Usui is a mischievous character who enjoys torturing Misaki by showing up at her cafe and eventually falls in love with her. Okamoto's voice is perfect for Usui, as he can clearly convey the comedy in the anime as well as the softer romance that Usui uses to humiliate and seduce Misaki.
7. Mikoto Mikoshiba, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is a comedy anime series that tells the story of Sakura as she tries to get Nozaki to notice her. Mikoshiba is good friends with Nozaki, who often uses Mikoshiba as a model for his manga characters. Mikoshiba's shyness at his own lines makes him the perfect fit for modeling Nozaki's heroines, which makes him even more annoyed and embarrassed.
Mikoshiba's cute nickname is "Mikorin," but his anger at being called cute makes him a typical Okamoto character. Mikoshiba is a temperamental character: flirtatious with classmates, embarrassed by his own words, and angry at being humiliated.
8. Garfiel Tinsel, Re: Zero
Re: Zero follows Subaru who is reincarnated into a fantasy world where time resets every time he dies. Season 2 introduces the Sanctuary, which is guarded by Garfiel and protected by the Roswaal family, as well as a copy of Ryuzu Meyer.
Garfiel introduces himself as the antagonist, fighting Subaru head-on while in his beast form, but after Subaru helps Garfiel conquer his fears, he becomes a friend and is willing to help the protagonists on their journey. Garfiel is a wild character who changes his personality in the blink of an eye, but is always angry and wants to fight.
9. Gladion, Pokemon: Sun and Moon
Pokémon: Sun and Moon follow Ash Ketchum and Pikachu traveling to the Alola region, where the anime's story takes on a more mature tone.
One of the best Sun and Moon anime characters, Gladion, is a calculating, impatient character, and without a doubt one of the anime's most memorable rivals.
Like many of Okamoto's characters, Gladion has a short temper and often punishes Ash, but recognizes his prowess. Gladion recognized Ash as his rival.
10. Makoto Kashino, Yumeiro Patissiere
At the school for aspiring patissiers, Kashino is known as one of the three Sweet Princes, the best chef in the school, and specializes in chocolate.
Kashino often explodes in anger, but calms down quickly, being able to help his friends in an emergency despite competing with all of them.
