Today, superheroes are not dominated by caucasian. Black superheroes start to appear one by one. After the black revolutionary in 1966 until 1982, comic publishers started to create black superheroes. Like Marvel who created Black Panther. DC also has a lineup of black superheroes who are just as cool. Who are they? Check the full list below.

1. Cyborg

Cyborg is one of the members of the Justice League. The man becomes one of the founders of the Justice League in the DC era new 52 comic. His position was filled by Martian Manhunter.

Cyborg’s real identity is a young black man named Victor Stone, he is the son of two scientists of S.T.A.R. Labs, Silas Stone and Elinore Stone. During an accident, Victor was gravely injured, Silas then used cybernetic technology to save his son’s life. This causes Victor’s body to be covered in machines.

2. John Stewart

John Stewart is one of the Green Lantern characters. John is recruited by the Guardian of Universe to temporarily replace Guy Gardner ( another Green Lantern) that was seriously injured. Working as an architect, John has the tendency to fight those in authority. His personality made Hal Jordan ( the first Green Lantern from Earth) disagree with John’s position.  Fortunately, John proves that he is the right man for the job.

3. Mr. Terrific

Michael Holt is the third smartest man in the DC universe. Under the alias Mr. Terrific, he once replaced Martian manhunter’s position in Justice League. Mr. Terrific is incredibly smart and he can solve problems quickly.

4. John Henry Irons

Steel/Man of Steel or John Henry Irons has an ability identical to Superman, immune to bullets and physical attacks. He obtained his power by wearing a specially made armor just like Iron Man. John Henry Irons was a scientist and a popular athlete.

5. Static

Static is the protagonist of the comic book and animated series titled Static Shock by DC and Milestone Comics. The black teenager’s real name is Virgil Hawkins and can manipulate electromagnetic energy to neutralize his opponents.

6. Firestorm

Firestorm is a superhero with the ability to manipulate nuclear and transform elements. Firestorm is a combination of two humans named Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein because of a high nuclear radiation explosion.

7. Vixen

Out of all superheroes with feral ability, Vixen is the only one that is unique. Mari Jiwe McCabe or Vixen has an animal-like power and ability but at the same time possesses high intelligence. Vixen was a member of the Justice League of America and Suicide Squad in the comic book. Behind her mask, Vixen is a successful model and businesswoman.

8. Black Lightning

Black Lightning is another popular DC superheroes. He can manipulate lighting and the black superhero was a core member of the Justice League of America. His real name is Jefferson Pierce and he is an athlete that works as a superhero outside of his working hours to take down the criminal organization named the 100.

9. Aqualad

If in the Justice League film we see Aquaman as the king of the seas, then Aqualad is a black superhero with similar abilities from the comic book. Aqualad’s real name is  Kaldur'ahm (Jackson Hyde) and he is the son of Black manta, Aquaman’s enemy. Because of his biological experiment that breaks the law of the Xbelian race, Kaldur can solidify water to become swords or mace.

10. Bronze Tiger

One of the powerless superheroes, Bronze Tiger is a black superhero with great expertise at martial arts in the DC universe. His real name is Ben Turner and he is one of the best fighters in the world. Bronze Tiger is close to Richard Dragon that is a master of Kung Fu in the DC universe.
