On Friday (10/7) Pokémon fans in Indonesia were introduced by the latest expansion of Pokemon Trading Card Game from Matahari & Bulan (Sun & Moon) series. This collection is very special because not only introducing Starter Deck and Booster Pack that filled with new Pokemon, but this expansion also introducing another gameplay mechanism: Tag Team.

Introducing Tag Team Mechanism on Pokemon TCG

The Tag Team GX or also known as Tag Team is a new feature in Pokemon TGC. The English version was released on the Pokemon World Championships in 2018 and started to hit the stores a year later. Meanwhile, the Indonesian version just recently released by AKG Games as the official distributor in this July.

As the name suggested, this card is no ordinary Pokemon GX card. In this card, you can find two Pokemon in one card. With two Pokemon featured in one card, the card will be getting stronger, as seen on the HP of the Tag Team GX can reach up to 240 HP. From the attack point, Tag Team GX also comes with tremendous power that surely can take down the enemy’s Pokemon.

Aside from the appearance, the Tag Team card also has a signature attack type. It’s different than the usual GX card, the Tag Team card usually has infinite damage, based on energy cards you imbued in the card.

In this fifth expansion of Pokemon TCG Bahasa Indonesia, dozens of Pokemon Tag Team GX that you can get both can be both from Starter Deck and Booster Pack. Every Pokemon Tag Team card comes with two, partnered Pokemon such as Pikachu & Zekrom, Mewtwo & Mew, Gardevoir & Sylveon, as well as Reshiram & Charizard, thee is also a card that consists of three Pokemon; Togepi & Cleffa & Igglybuff.

In the official press release, AKG Games said that the Tag Team GX card will make the Pokemon TCG battles in Indonesia getting more intense as usual. This due to the higher risk of using the Tag Team GX card in battle. Even though it has devastating power, but this card usually requires a massive amount of energy, and if the card is beaten, the opponent can take two prize cards.

Introducing Supporter Tag Team Card

Aside from introducing dozens of Pokemon Tag Team GX cards, in this fifth expansion, the Indonesian Pokemon TCG by AKG Games also introducing a few Supporter Tag Team cards. Similar to the Pokemon’s version, in Supporter Tag Team cards, you can see two Pokemon Trainers in one card.

The Supporter Tag Team usually has more damage and more complex than the usual Supporter. The card’s effect also requires another Supporter card to work. But this will help you with doing a few maneuvers that you can’t do with previous Support cards.

Other Card Types

Aside from Tag Team GX and Supporter Tag Team cards in this fifth expansion, this expansion also introducing new cards for you to collect, starting from new Pokemon species, items, and Supporters to Pokemon cards with new artworks that you can get in this expansion.

AKG Games even promised that there’ll be 100 animated images for hologram cards as well as alternate limited art for Tag Team GX cards in this expansion. This will make Pokemon TCG collectors in Indonesia getting more curious and hyped to get their targeted cards.

To get rare cards that you wanted, you must purchase Booster Pack. Similar to previous expansion, in this expansion, there are two Booster Packs that you can purchase, Set A and Set B. Each set has different Pokemon inside.

In a Booster Pack, you will receive five different cards. One of the cards is a hologram card that comes with different rarity levels, starting from RR, TR, CHR, SR to HR, or Hyper Rare. The HR cards are the cards that usually hunted by collectors and have a high selling price.

Verdict

Since the arrival of Pokemon TCG in Bahasa Indonesia back in 2019, the Tag Team mechanism is the very first mechanism to be introduced in the game. As hoped by KG Games, the mechanism can bring the Pokemon TCG battles in Indonesia getting more intense.

Remembering the “New Normal” circumstance that currently forcing many people to stay inside, the introduction of Pokemon TCG Bahasa Indonesia, Fifth Expansion also reinvigorate Pokemon TCG battles at home because this game is suitable to be played with the family.
