VALORANT Gekko is the latest Initiator Agent who has a unique ability kit. Gekko’s main Utility is Wingman (Q), which can be used to plant spikes or defuse them. Thanks to this ability, Gekko is considered one of the most powerful agents this far.
As a VALORANT agent, Gekko certainly has his own strengths and weaknesses that players should know about. So, what are the pros and cons of VALORANT Gekko? Without further ado, let's get into it.
VALORANT Gekko: Pros and Cons
VALORANT Gekko’s Strengths
Has the Versatile Wingman (Q)
Gekko's utility that's also his main attraction is his Wingman, a living doll/spirit helper creature that does things according to orders. You can order his Wingman to immobilize the opponent, and what makes it so unique is that you can plant or defuse spikes using Wingman.
This ability is deemed as very powerful as it helps Gekko on planting and defusing. So, Gekko can focus on protecting teammates who are dealing with spikes — no need to sacrifice one player.
His Dizzy (E) Is Tough to Avoid
Gekko's signature ability, Dizzy, is a utility that allows Gekko to throw a flash to hit all the opponents that Dizzy sees. Dizzy can be used multiple times, approximately 7 times per round. So, Dizzy is certainly quite annoying when used correctly.
Dizzy bounces off surfaces while in the air to look for better angles.
His Mosh Pit (C) Can Instantly Kill Opponents
Another Gekko's ability that deserves a spotlight is Mosh Pit, an ability that allows him to dish out massive damage in a vast area. When it hits an opponent, Mosh Pit creates three explosions with up to 50 damage per explosion.
It's a tremendous amount of damage, and with just one ability, you can kill your opponent. This ability can be paired with Astra's Gravity Well or Fade's Seize.
Has a Very Powerful Ultimate
Gekko's Ultimate allows him to summon puppets that he can control to move quickly and create spaces for teammates. This ability can also give Detained status effects to enemies for 6 seconds — more than enough to finish off opponents.
Aside from that, Thrasher (X) can also be used once more if you reclaim this skill. That way, Gekko can use his Ultimate twice — which is very strong for an agent in VALORANT as he can use his Ultimate more than once in the same round.
Almost All of His Abilities Can Be Reclaimed to be Reused
Almost all of Gekko's abilities – except Mosh Pit (C) – can be reclaimed and reused as many times as long as you have the chance to reclaim them (except for his Ultimate, Thrasher).
Due to his mechanics, Gekko is rather powerful given that almost all of his abilities can help him make a great impact.
VALORANT Gekko’s Weaknesses
His Abilities Can Easily Be Disrupted
All of Gekko's abilities, apart from Mosh Pit, can be destroyed by players by shooting them. You can destroy Dizzy with a single shot, Wingman with three shots, and Thrasher with five shots.
Mosh Pit (C) Takes a While to Explode
Granted, Mosh Pit seems like a powerful ability, yet unfortunately, this ability has a long delay before it can explode (3 seconds). This allows the opponents to avoid it with ease if you just throw the Mosh Pit without any other support abilities such as Wingman, Thrash or support from other Agents.
Flash Only Lasts 1 Second and is Easy to be Destroyed
As mentioned above, Gekko's ability can be destroyed easily and the skill that has the lowest HP is his flash, Dizzy. Not only is it easy to destroy, Dizzy also only flashes for 1 second and doesn't cover the entire screen — unlike most flash abilities.
Gekko Tends to Spend Time Reclaiming and Recharging His Utility Throughout the Rounds
Gekko's strength is that he is able to reclaim his utility. However, this advantage can become a drawback as it makes Gekko spend his time just recharging his utility — making him very vulnerable to opponents.
Requires a High-Risk High-Reward Approach
Playing Gekko requires a very high-risk high-return approach — because all the time, you will be vulnerable towards your opponents' attacks. However, once you can do that, you'll benefit as the abilities he has can make life difficult for opponents.
