This article contains spoilers, especially for those of you who haven’t watched/read the latest episode/chapter of  Attack on Titan. So, it’d be better to skip this one if you don’t want to get spoiled!

In Attack on Titan chapter 139, we finally found out the main goal of his plan -- which is to set Ymir free.

Some of you might have been wondering what was Eren trying to save Ymir from, and why Mikasa’s the only person who could do that?

Therefore, on this occasion, Dunia Games would like to cover Eren’s plan to set the ancestor of the Eldians, Ymir Fritz, free. Let’s get into it.

Why Mikasa’s the Only One Who Could Save Ymir

First of all, let’s discuss the situation that Ymir had to dealt with this whole time. As it turned out, Ymir had secretly fallen in love with Karl Fritz, that’s why she was so obedient to the king, despite her having the power of the Founding Titan, which is equal to that of a god -- Ymir could have set herself free from Karl Fritz.

But, according to some theories, Ymir had been experiencing Stockholm syndrome, a psychological condition in which a hostage/slave develops sympathy or emotional bond with the captor.

Ymir couldn’t set herself free from her feelings towards Karl Fritz, even after she died. Therefore, Ymir remained ‘alive’, searching for a way how to get herself out of her feelings.

That’s until she saw Mikasa, who fought her feelings and cut Eren’s head, although she loved Eren so deeply -- similar to Ymir’s feelings for Karl Fritz, which indicated that Mikasa already accepted to live without Eren in her life.

Ymir finally found the ‘freedom’ she had been looking for this whole time after seeing a true form of love.

Due to Ymir being a slave to her own feelings, Mikasa had to live the rest of her life without Eren by her side. Is it acceptable to blame Ymir for Eren’s death? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

The Real Theme of Attack on Titan: A Love Story!

From the start of the manga, we’ve seen wars and hatred in this universe -- some even said that there’s no romance in Attack on Titan.

But, with the release of Attack on Titan chapter 139, we can see that the main theme or the bigger picture of Attack on Titan is actually a love story!

Love has been the main reason for everything that happens in Attack on Titan. Since Ymir couldn’t set herself free from the misery and sufferings of her love for Fritz, she put all of her burden on Eren.

Ymir had to wait for 2,000 years to see a true love to set her free from her agony.
