Recently, Amazon announced a live-action series for Prime Video, adapted from the Like a Dragon game series, previously known as Yakuza. Titled Like a Dragon: Yakuza, the series will consist of six episodes and is directed by Masaharu Take, renowned for the drama series The Naked Director.

This series stars the highly popular Japanese actor Ryoma Takeuchi, who will play Kazuma Kiryu. Like a Dragon: Yakuzawill be available on Amazon Prime in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. The series is set to be released in two batches, on October 25 and November 1, 2024.

RGG Studio also revealed the actor for Goro Majima: Mutenaka Aoi, who made his debut in 2002. Aoi has appeared in several series and movies, including Rurouni Kenshin (as Sanosuke Sagara), Taira no Kiyomori (as Benkei), and The 13 Lords of the Shogun (as Kiso Yoshinaka).

The story of this series will be directly adapted from the first Yakuza game, which was released in 2005. It will be set in the Kamurocho entertainment district, just like in the game. The plot will focus on Kiryu and his three childhood friends, spanning two time periods: 1995 and 2005.
