ONIC Esports have officially reclaimed their throne after defeating RRQ Hoshi 4–3 in the grand final of MPL ID Season 15. The intense seven-game series delivered countless epic moments, but one of the most emotional stories came from ONIC’s roamer, Kiboy, who played exceptionally despite being ill.
Yes, Kiboy had not been in peak condition during the most crucial series of the season. ONIC Brand Ambassador Luthfi Halimawan revealed this in a livestream shortly after ONIC had been crowned champions.
“I already had a bad feeling. In game two, Kiboy took medicine, if you noticed. And if you saw, he was holding a ton of tissues. He looked like he was sweating a lot,” Luthfi said.
“You know how when someone has a high fever and takes paracetamol, they start sweating cold, right? So I just said, hopefully game three goes well,” he added.
Sick but Still Stellar: Kiboy’s Defining Performance
Against all odds, Kiboy delivered a heroic performance despite his physical condition. He had played Kalea, Badang, and—most decisively—Chou in the final two games. When ONIC had been trailing 2–3 and facing elimination, Kiboy stepped up as the game-changer who flipped the series.
ONIC’s comeback began when Kiboy locked in Chou for game six and game seven. Every initiation, pick-off, and zoning move he made had been precise. Several times, he had broken through RRQ’s backline and secured key targets, paving the way for ONIC to take full control.
His Chou had not only been decisive in late-game scenarios but had also served as the answer to RRQ’s aggressive early-game pressure. Kiboy had remained composed, calculated, and disciplined—even as his body had been fighting a fever.
He didn’t need to wear the captain’s armband to lead the charge—Kiboy had proven that leadership lies not only in titles but in one’s response to the team’s needs, especially when personal limits are tested.
ONIC’s championship at MPL ID Season 15 wasn’t just about drafts, meta, or mechanics. It was a triumph built on mental fortitude and the sacrifices of every player. And Kiboy’s name will forever be etched into this title run—as the warrior who refused to back down, even while sick.
