Hashirama Senju can be said as one of the legendary ninjas in Naruto’s world due to his ability on mastering the Wood Element and his prowess on ninjutsu, Hashirama later called as ‘God of Shinobi’.

He’s also known as an idealist because he’s willing to sacrifice his life for the peace between Senju and Uchiha clan, and successfully created ‘temporary peace’ with the founding of Konohagakure, and shared Bijuus to other villages without asking for any return.

Seeing himself as a humble person and his massive legacy to the ninja world, then it’s very weird about his death that came out about his death during the First Shinobi World War. Nobody knows (or at least heard about gossips) whether he died of disease, old age, or even being killed!

The writer will break down the reason behind Hashirama’s death and why the information doesn’t spread to the world!

Hashirama’s Death Should Become a Shocking News

Hashirama Senju is not only a Hokage. He is The First Hokage as well as the founder of the village system with his friend, Madara Uchiha. 

Added with his massive battle when Madara defected and created massive destruction and to the point created a new landmark called Valley of the End. But it looks like nobody cares about Hashirama’s later life.

Let’s compare it with a real-life, historical figure that was respected by his people and suddenly died: John Fitzgerald Kennedy, or JFK.

The deceased JFK was the 35th President of the United States of America and his popularity in the world cannot be denied. As a World War II veteran, he was awarded numerous honors. The Kennedy family sometimes appeared in numerous magazines and became a fashion trend back then.

Until the moment when JFK was shot twice on November 22, 1963. No longer after that, a man named Lee Harvey Oswald was apprehended by the police and identified as the assassin, but he didn’t have a chance to sit on the court because he was later assassinated by another man named Jack Ruby.

In Naruto, when Kakuzu introduced and arrived in the front of Naruto and friends, Kakashi commented that this opponent once attempted to kill Hashirama; like a footnote in a guidebook of famous ninjas. 

Then, Why Nobody Avenge Kakuzu For His Attempt?

It’s unclear when the date was, but one thing for sure that at that time during the First Shinobi World War, Takigakure Village once sent Kakuzu to kill Hashirama Senju. Another detail is that things ended up badly to Kakuzu and he failed his mission. Later, Takigakure higherups decided to punish Kakuzu because of his ‘negligence’.

Then why previously nobody talked about this incident? The answer probably simple.

The first, because Kakuzu failed, Yep, because Kakuzu was unable to finish the First Hokage. If they found out that they sent Kakuzu, Hashirama (or Tobirama and other Konoha military personnel) could send ninja troops to vanquish Takigakure. Because of that, probably Takigakure higherups later covered and denied the Hashirama’s assassination attempt by Kakuzu.

Probably Hashirama Senju Died of Another Cause…?

Up to this point, it’s hard to accept this theory remembering the existence of a ‘magical’ thing on his body: Hashirama cells.

Whether of mastering the mysterious Wood Element kekkei genkai, because of being Asura Otsusuki’s descendant or both, Hashirama’s body can cure any wounds - and can be transferred into others by transferring his cell.

His durability or energy also tremendously big as he could fight Madara for 24 hours straight without a break.

If we’re talking about his chakra, it’s also useless. During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Kurama’s chakra that engulfed all the Alliance Troops only considered as ‘almost the same’ with his chakra.

The thing about his death due to old age or because of disease looks like impossible regarding Madara can live up to 100 years old due to Hashirama cells he injected to Gedo Mazo statue. His regeneration ability also ‘cure’ diseases, viruses, unknown bacteria that enter his body.

Other Logical Reasons Behind the Death of Hashirama 

1. Beaten Up by Ninja Troops Like the Third Raikage and Tobirama

As a heroic figure, it’s not a strange thing that Hashirama sacrificed himself for his friend. But this is a little bit off, remembering that a man with a massive power like him who mentioned by Danzo as one of the figures who can control Bijuu fully.

2. Too Kind, Sacrificing Himself For a Hostage

Continuing the last point, probably Hashirama surrendered himself to the enemies to save Konohagakure ninjas; moreover, if the hostages were young Genins. It’s not a strange thing that he’s willing to commit suicide for the Senju and Uchiha to unite under the same roof.

3. Commit Suicide After Losing His Friend

After ‘killing’ Madara by his own hands, probably he feels depressed and no longer able to lead Konohagakure after departed with his friend’s dream. Even in The Secret Scrolls of Confrontation official guidebook, it is only mentioned that Hashirama died during building his village, so it could mean that he didn’t die in battle.

So that’s a bunch of theories regarding the reason behind the death of Hashirama Senju. It’s funny that there was someone who killed him but didn’t admit; because his name would be famous instantly! The killer will be hunted by Konoha, but it’s clear that his reputation and his own will skyrocketed!
