2021 has been a pretty productive year for Disney Pixar. After the release of Luca in the middle of this year of the stunning Disney Pixar film about sea monsters, there’s also Monsters at Work which is a continuation of the successful Disney Pixar film entitled Monster, Inc. and Monsters University.

Coming to Disney+ Hotstar, this Disney Pixar series about the world of work is hilarious and fun to watch. Here are 6 facts about Monsters at Work that you must know before watching this entertaining Disney Pixar series.

1. A Sequel to Disney Pixar Monsters, Inc. with 10 Episodes

After the success of the Disney Pixar film entitled Monsters, Inc. in 2001, it took Disney 20 years to release the Monsters at Work series in 2021. Previously, the Disney Pixar prequel film, entitled Monsters University, tells the story of Sulley, Mike, and Randal who were still studying in college before working at Monsters, Inc. in 2021. The Monsters at Work series will have a total of 10 episodes that air every Wednesday, where the first and second episodes aired simultaneously on 7 July 2021.

2. The First Disney Pixar Film Made Into Series

Previously, the company only made movies or short animated films, it turns out that Monsters at Works is the first series from Pixar Animation Studios. Perhaps following the success of Marvel Studios with its many titles and always anticipated and watched by many people, Disney Pixar is finally working on its first weekly series as well.

3. The Original Sulley and Mike’s Voice Actors

The original actors who voiced the main characters in Monster, Inc and Monsters University are back in Monsters at Work. Actors John Goodman and Billy Crystal have returned to voice James P. Sullivan and Mike Wazowski. Sulley and Mike have now been named CEO and co-founder of the energy-producing company Monster, as the CEO had previously been jailed in Monsters, Inc.

4. Fear Fuel Changed into Laughter Fuel

Continuing the story of Monsters, Inc., in Monsters at Work the fear fuel generated from human children who are feared by monsters is no longer used. The alternative is the laughter energy of the human children which can also be a resource in the Monster city. Monsters must be able to joke and make their best jokes in front of every human child they visit in order to make the children laugh to then be converted into fuel.

Mike Wazowski is a monster who is good at jokes and collects a lot of laughter fuel from every child's room he visits, even though he has to work hard until late every day because not many monsters can make kids laugh. Most of the kids are afraid of these strange-looking monsters, so it takes special abilities and hard work for the working monsters to bring smiles and laughter to every child they visit. During his break from work, Mike often organizes seminars and workshops on comedy in his company so that more Monsters can become comedians like himself.

5. Tylor Tuskmon as the Main Character 

The Disney Pixar series, entitled Monsters at Work, does not only feature old characters from Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University such as Sulley and Mike Wazowski. This hilarious show features many new characters such as Tylor Tuskmon, Val Little, and Fritz. The Three Monsters work at Monsters Inc. Facilities Team aka MIFT, the support division in charge of technical and equipment repair at Monsters company.

The main character is Tylor, the best graduate of Monsters university who can break the record for scaring human children beyond the skill of Sulley who previously perched at the top of the rankings. Tylor, who became the best graduate, was immediately recommended to work at the Monsters company, although his great ability to scare human children was no longer used in the updated company policy.

6. Message About Work Life

This Disney Pixar film series project turned out to be done when the Covid-19 virus pandemic was just. Therefore, the animators of this series don’t work in the office and have to work remotely. By working remotely, they managed to complete three episodes of the Disney Pixar film that tells about work life. Everything about the working life in a company is the core of Monsters at Works’s story, starting from the experience of the first day working for Tylor, the main character.

The job competition between employees to get a higher position is also shown here. A good message about work life is delivered in a fun way. Such as how to make new employees feel at home and increase team cohesiveness that the MIFT division does with all its unique traditions. Mike's workshop as the company's deputy leader to share his expertise with all employees so that good work results can be achieved is also a good example at Monsters at Work.
