Konami Breaks Two World Records in Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Japan Tokyo 2024

Konami Digital Entertainment Limited (KONAMI) is proud to announce that the company has successfully broken two Guinness™ world records in Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Japan Tokyo 2024.

First, KONAMI managed to achieve the Guinness world record for the largest number of participants in a trading card game tournament, as well as breaking Guinness' own world record for the largest trading card game tournament.

A total of 7,443 participants registered for Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Japan Tokyo 2024 (YCSJ TOKYO 2024), which is recognized as achieving the Guinness world record for the largest number of participants in a trading card game tournament.* YCSJ TOKYO 2024 takes place April 28-29 at Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Centre). This event was held for the first time as a two-day event to commemorate the 10th YCSJ.

YCSJ TOKYO 2024 saw a total of 7,443 participants take part in the tournament. The Guinness world record for the largest trading card game tournament** was previously held by KONAMI and the 100th YCS in Long Beach, California, USA, which took place on March 23-25, 2012. The official ceremony awarding KONAMI with a Guinness world record certificate was held at the event. with the participants watching it.

YCSJ TOKYO 2024 also awarded the title to Yutaro Takahashi. They were not only the winners of the 10th YCSJ, but also the winners of the largest trading card game tournament of all time, besting 7,442 other participants to take the title. After winning the 10th YCSJ, Yutaro Takahashi said, “I am very happy to be champion! This is thanks to practicing with my friends who I met through 'Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG'. I will try hard to win the next event too!
