During the Straw Hat Pirates' journey in One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy and his crewmates have received several outfit changes and Roronoa Zoro's outfit change. While his green-haired grit has always been around, Zoro's aesthetic has changed along with some of the best outfits seen in the series.

With One Piece reaching 25 years of continuous publication in July 2022, the series continues to establish itself as one of the best shonen, thanks in part to its awesome character designs. Curious? This is the full review.

Dressrosa

Dressrosa stands out as a much more serious arc than most arcs in One Piece. But that doesn't mean this arc doesn't have comedy. To stay undercover when he first entered the island of Donquixote Doflamingo, the Straw Hat Pirates put on some really weird costumes as makeshift disguises.

Zoro's disguise, defined by his inappropriate formality, consists of a suit similar to Sanji's traditional attire, a pair of sunglasses, and an enormous fake mustache. This is a way to hide the presence of the former bounty hunter until the crew is ready to announce their arrival on the island.

Alabasta

Nefertari Vivi, princess of the Kingdom of Alabasta, became a close friend of the Straw Hat Pirates throughout the Little Garden and Drum Island arcs. Vivi eventually serves as a catalyst for their efforts to overthrow Crocodile's iron fist grip on his territory.

Every member of the Straw Hats received a costume change during this arc and Zoro's outfit really stands out. This outfit combines a unique black-and-white patterned cape and peach-colored hood for her iconic look, making him one of the best-dressed characters in the arc.

Sabaody Archipelago

Prior to the One Piece timeskip, changes to Zoro's appearance were generally minor touches. However, as evidenced by his Saobody Archipelago outfit, this minimalist approach didn't prevent writer Eiichiro Oda from illustrating one of Zoro's best "Pirate Hunter'' designs in the series.

The Saobody Archipelago arc introduces the audience to various characters (including the remaining Supernova members). Zoro uses clothes that are quite simple but still make him stylish.

Enies Lobby

Nico Robin's cat-and-mouse game with the World Government goes through several phases, but none is more devastating than Enies Lobby. Most of the One Piece fan base would have chosen her rescue at the hands of the Straw Hats as their favorite moment in the entire series, so it's only fitting that this arc has a unique outfit for the Straw Hat crew.

In particular, Zoro's burning yellow jacket stands out as the most interesting addition created by Eiichiro Oda. This is a very cute costume even though it is simple.

Post-Timeskip

After a gap of two years, fans are excited to see what changes the Straw Hats have made. As a result of this anticipation, the public was overjoyed when they were introduced to the new appearance of the series' well-designed main character.

While literally every member of Luffy's crew was rewarded with a few new character designs, Zoro's visuals were significantly overhauled. He used an all-green coat and red sash, complementing his surviving lime-green haramaki and his signature hair color. This combination of old staples and New World appeal makes for a great outfit.

Zorojuro

The Wano arc has almost certainly changed the One Piece landscape more than anything in the entire series. The Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance not only uprooted two of the four Yonko, but also freed the long-abused island of samurai from Kaido's grasp.

Zoro uses a Wano-themed disguise, which results in the best character outfits in the series. "Zorojuro," the title adopted by Luffy's first friend during his early time on the island, completely transforms his appearance and attire into a set of traditional Japanese-inspired outfits. The cloud patterned kimono, dark green haori, and chonmage-style hair are lovely touches that make Zoro more effective in the samurai concept than ever before.

The Normal Zoro

Zoro may have a bloodline that comes from the samurai-infested island of Wano, but that will never change the origin story of the formidable swordsman. The infamous "Pirate Hunter" begins as a brawling brat who defies traditional swordsmanship conventions with his three sword styles, determination, and unusual fortitude, all represented by his standard costume.

Zoro's white shirt, greenish black pants, and lime green haramaki seem earthy at first glance. However, when Zoro moved his bandana to his head and drew his three swords, Zoro turned violent.
