Solo Leveling - Animation Project Begins Twitter account announced the death of creator and artist Jang Sung-rak (DUBU) due to illness on Monday June 25, 2022. A tweet was posted: “The editor of the Solo Leveling webtoon has just announced the death of the incredible cartoonist who shared his talent with us through these chapters… Our thoughts are with his family and friends…”

For your information, Solo Leveling finally got an official anime adaptation after many requests from fans. During the Crunchyroll Industry Panel at Anime Expo 2022, it was revealed that South Korean anime Solo Leveling, which was created by the late DUBU and Chugong, will receive an anime adaptation in 2023. The series revealed the addition of the first staff along with a new story synopsis that gives fans hope for the anime to come out next year.

Crunchyroll also announced the first anime key visual of Solo Leveling featuring Sung Jinwoo as the main character. The anime will be directed by Shunsuke Nakashige, Noboru Kimura will serve as the chief writer, Tomoko Sudo as the character designer, and Hiroyuki Sawano as the music composer who will perform the songs in the anime. Meanwhile, A-1 Pictures will be in charge of the animation production.

The Solo Leveling reveals its first synopsis as follows:

"It has been more than a decade since the sudden appearance of 'gates', connecting our world to a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have been granted awakenings with supernatural powers. We refer to these individuals as 'hunters'. Hunters make a living with their strength to conquer the dungeons that are within the gates of this formidable world. The low-level hunter Sung Jinwoo is known as the weakest hunter in all of humanity. One day, Jinwoo was seriously injured when he ran into a double dungeon hidden behind a low-rank dungeon. Just then, a new quest appeared in front of him. On the verge of dying, Jinwoo decided to accept the quest and start leveling up, while the others didn't."

On the other hand, the Solo Leveling webtoon has ended at this time and will continue it to the official anime adaptation that will come next year. It will be a while before we can see more information about this most popular series.
