The Star Wars Day that falls on May 4th every year maybe already passed but doesn’t mean that Star Wars fever will run out shortly. After the series wraps up with the latest movie that screened a year ago titled The Rise of Skywalker, Disney as the license owner of the series has promised to keep producing movies, series, and animated series that will expand the galactic world made by George Lucas.

One of the closest things that will expand the series is the second season of The Mandalorian that scheduled to air in October this year. In this second season, Disney promised that they will introduce the famous Mandalorian bounty hunter ever existed in Star Wars universe, Boba Fett.

While waiting for the second season to come, as well as building the hype for it, it is advised to watch these space-themed animes because there are plenty of space-themed animes that offer the same thrill as seen in Star Wars series. If you don’t believe it, try to watch these animes below.

1. Space Battleship Yamato 2199

This anime tells about the earth in crisis after alien invasion known as “Gamilas”. Humans create the earth's defense army. In the decision, hope appears when a mysterious planet called Iscandar offers help. Young crews in Space Battleship Yamato travels for 148.000 lightyears to Iscandar to pick the help. Can Space Battleship Yamato crews arrive at Iscandar in the nick of time and saving the world?

2. Legend of the Galactic Heroes

This anime is based on a sci-fi novel by Yoshiki Tanaka that tells about two interplanetary governments; the monarch Galactic Empire and the democratic Free Planets Alliance that has been under a cold war for 150 years. This anime is rich in military strategies and political maneuvers. Even though it is considered as classic anime, but this one is a must-watch for Star Wars fan.

3. Crest of the Stars

This anime is based on a sci-fi novel of the same name. Tells about a planet ruled by the strongest kingdom: The Abh. Jinto’s father, who is the Prime Minister, surrenders the planet to Abh, in an exchange for having a seat in the Abh Kingdom. Jinto later ascends into a prince and sent to enroll at Abh, there, he meets the kingdom’s princess, Lafiel. Even though she’s cold to him, but in the end the can befriend each other. Not long after that, the kingdom prepares for war. Their journey begins.

4. AKB0048

AKB0048 is a 2012 anime that inspired from the popular idol group AKB48. This anime sets at the beginning of the 21st century, where the interplanetary wars occur. Earth's ecosystem destroyed, resulting in humans sent to another planet. It turns out that there is a planet that ruled with totalitarianism, with music and arts banned.

AKB0048 also cannot have a concert there because of that reason. AKB0048 later changes their concept from “Idol you can meet” to “Idol that visits fans”. That thing makes them labeled as terrorists by many people, so the idols must carry weapons everywhere they go. Wota people surely love this one.
