10 Anime Songs that Sung by K-pop Idols, a Combination of Two Worlds!

Not only popular in their respective countries, it turns out that there are many K-pop idols who have sung popular anime songs as well.

Anime songs are usually at the opening and ending of an anime. If usually, anime songs are identical to J-pop artists or Japanese singers who sing the songs, it turns out that there are many anime songs that are also sung by K-pop idols. This becomes very interesting, especially the fact that anime and K-pop are both famous in their home countries. The combination of the strengths of these two camps is something that is certainly very welcome by fans.

Not to mention that the popularity of these two camps has spread to countries in Asia to the West which is of course an attractive marketing tool for the anime itself and the K-pop artists who perform the songs. Starting from legendary K-pop artists to the newest K-pop artists, here are anime songs sung by K-pop idols that you should know about.

Anime Songs Sung by K-pop Idols

1. BoA - Every Heart (Inuyasha)

BoA can be said to be one of the K-pop artists who paved the way for other K-pop artists to enter the Japanese market. BoA is an artist from SM Entertainment who succeeded in becoming the first South Korean artist to dominate the Japanese music charts. A song titled "Every Heart: Minna no Kimochi" comes from her Japanese debut album Listen to My Heart which was released in 2002. It is one of the fourth ending theme songs of Inuyasha in Japan. This debut album even made it to number 10 on Japan's Oricon singles chart which was a huge achievement for a K-pop singer at the time.

2. TXT - Everlasting Shine (Black Clover)

TXT or Tomorrow X Together is a South Korean boy band from Big Hit Entertainment that debuted in 2019 and also made its debut in Japan. After the success of their Japanese debut, TXT was chosen to fill in for Black Clover's twelfth opening theme song titled 'Everlasting Shine'. For those of you who don't know, Black Clover follows the story of Asta and Yuno, two orphans who grew up together and competed with each other to become the strongest magic emperor.

3. Stray Kids - Top (Tower of God)

Tower of God is an anime that follows the story of a boy who has a friend named Rachel. One day, his friend entered a mysterious tower and never returned, so he decided to enter the mysterious tower to find Rachel's whereabouts. This anime adaptation of the famous webtoon premiered in early 2020. Stray Kids, a boy band from JYP Entertainment, sang the opening theme song "Top" for Tower of God. Apart from performing the opening theme song, Stray Kids also performed the ending theme song "Slump" for this anime.

4. Treasure - Beautiful (Black Clover)

Another song featured in Black Clover that is sung by a K-pop Idol is a song called "Beautiful" by the South Korean boy band Treasure. It is the thirteenth ending theme for the anime. Treasure is a boy band from YG Entertainment that debuted in 2020 and consists of 10 members. Apart from singing the ending song of the anime, Treasure is also entrusted to sing one of the songs for the anime feature film titled Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King entitled “Here I Stand”.   

5. TVXQ - Share the World (One Piece)

TVXQ or Tohoshinki is a boy band from South Korea under SM Entertainment which debuted in 2003. As one of the legendary boy bands from South Korea, TVXQ is trusted to sing the eleventh opening theme song for One Piece entitled "Share The World!" from their 27th Japanese single album of the same title. In addition to performing this song, they were also previously chosen to be the first opening theme song titled “We Are! (Remix)” and the seventeenth ending theme “Asu wa Kuru Kara”. Since their initial debut in Japan, TVXQ has topped the charts since their first release in 2004, even establishing them as a role model K-pop idol group to date.

6. ENHYPEN - Forget me not (Re-Main)

ENHYPEN is a boy band from South Korea formed by Belift Lab which is a collaboration between Hybe Corporation and CJ E&M. They debuted in 2020, and had their first Japanese debut in 2021. ENHYPEN debuted in Japan with an album Border: Hakanai which includes a song called “Forget Me Not” which served as the opening theme for Re-Main. Re-Main is a water polo-themed anime whose story focuses on the main character named Minato Kiyomizu who is a talented teenage athlete who suddenly has to lose his memory to his abilities.

7. 2PM - Take Off (Blue Exorcist)

This senior boy band from JYP Entertainment debuted in Japan for the first time with a single titled 'Take Off'. The single, which was released in 2011, immediately became the song used as the ending theme for the first 12 episodes of the first season of the anime series Blue Exorcist. This song even managed to peak at number 4 on the Oricon Weekly Single chart at that time and became proof of 2 PM's popularity in Japan.

8. Dreamcatcher - Eclipse (King’s Raid: Successors of the Will)

King's Raid: Successors of the Will is an anime adaptation of an RPG video game developed by an indie game developer from South Korea named Vespa Interactive. Dreamcatcher, one of the popular girl groups from South Korea that debuted in 2014, was chosen to perform the opening theme song for the anime entitled "Eclipse". King's Raid: Successors of the Will is an anime that focuses on the main character named Kasel who is chosen to wield a legendary sword that can be used to defeat demons.

9. Kim Jaejoong - Breaking Down (Noblesse)

Noblesse is another anime adapted from a popular South Korean webtoon. Noblesse tells the story of a very powerful noble named Cadis Etrama Di Raizel who has been asleep for 820 years without knowing the development of mankind. One day, he wakes up in human life that has developed and becomes a high school student. Kim Jaejoong, a former member of TVXQ, was entrusted with performing the anime's opening song titled "Breaking Down".

10. MBLAQ - Baby U! (Beelzebub)

 

The legendary South Korean boy group MBLAQ consists of five members under J. Tune Camp in 2011. Their second Japanese single titled “Baby U!” was later chosen as the fourth opening song for Beelzebub. For those of you who don't know, Beelzebub anime tells the story of Tatsumi Oga, a junior high school student who is known for being a delinquent at school and suddenly finds a strange baby with green hair. He was ignorant of the fact that the baby was actually a great demon king who was sent to Earth.
