RRQ's Valorant campaign at the Esports World Cup 2025 was halted by European rival Team Heretics. Check out the following review.
Team Heretics Stops RRQ Valorant's Journey at the Esports World Cup 2025
Unlike the opening match, which was played in a best-of-one series (BO1), the decider was played in a best-of-three series (BO3) format, with RRQ Valorant facing Team Heretics on three maps: Sunset, Iceberg, and Ascent.
On the first map, Sunset, RRQ was clearly cornered by Heretics' superior performance. The first half ended with an 11-1 score, and RRQ needed to fight back and bounce back in the second half to turn things around. Despite securing two points in the second half, RRQ lost Game 1 with a score of 13-3.
The performance of Heretics' two young stars, Woot and Riens, was unstoppable, while RRQ's two mainstays, Kushy and Monyet, were not at their best. In Game 2, Iceberg, RRQ was again hampered by Heretics' early lead. Trying to catch up, RRQ narrowed the gap.
Woot and Boo were the heroes again, as Heretics closed the first half with a score of 9-3. Heretics earned match point in the 19th round, while RRQ still had seven points. Trailing, RRQ's fighting spirit remained strong, trying to hold Heretics off heading into overtime.
Heretics managed to secure their first point in the extra round. RRQ managed to counter, but Heretics continued to gain points. In the deciding round, Benjyfishy defeated two RRQ players, Kushy and Xffero. The situation was favorable for Heretics, and Monyet and Jemkin tried to retaliate.
However, Benjyfishy once again proved the killer of the King. Crazyguy was left alone against two players from Heretics, Benjyfishy fell, and finally, MiniBoo closed out Heretics' victory over RRQ Valorant with a score of 15-13, securing a 2-0 overall victory.
RRQ Valorant's journey at the Esports World Cup 2025 came to an end. Hopefully, this defeat will encourage the Kings to improve for the next competition. Heretics advance to the playoffs and will face FNATIC.
