Publisher Nippon Ichi Software and developer Orgesta are preparing to launch the horror adventure game Lens for PC via Steam in Japan. Priced at 7,200 yen (7,920 yen including tax), the game will soon expand its reach after its initial debut on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on August 28 in Japan.

Lens follows the disturbing journey of Hayato Tsukumo, a writer for the occult magazine Aghastia, who becomes entangled in a supernatural mystery while investigating a wave of unexplained disappearances in S City. Each missing person had reportedly visited haunted locations and received eerie messages before vanishing. When Tsukumo himself receives a similar message, his life takes a dark turn as a cursed camera app installs itself on his phone, marking the beginning of his slow descent into terror.

Equipped only with a flashlight and the cursed camera, Tsukumo must explore a series of haunted sites to uncover the origins of his affliction. Through this cursed lens, players can capture glimpses of spirits hiding within the darkness. Each successful photo unlocks Spirit Videos haunting fragments that may hold the key to understanding and breaking the deadly curse consuming him.

One of the game’s most chilling features is its curse progression mechanic. The longer players take to investigate or fail to capture key spirits, the closer Tsukumo drifts toward death. His mind and body deteriorate as the curse strengthens, creating a growing sense of dread and urgency. Balancing curiosity with survival becomes essential; every wrong move could be his last.

Tsukumo’s investigation leads him to eerie, abandoned places steeped in tragedy—such as S Cemetery, now neglected after its caretaker’s hospitalization; the Oomizo family home, where unsettling traces of the past linger; and a forgotten mountain shrine shrouded in mystery. Each location deepens the story’s web of supernatural terror, connecting the protagonist’s fate to the sinister legends surrounding these cursed grounds.

Beyond its narrative, Lens captivates with its immersive horror presentation. Detailed visuals, ambient soundscapes, and unpredictable ghost encounters create a constant sense of paranoia. Every step feels unsafe, every flicker of movement potentially harboring another restless soul.

For collectors, Lens will also be available in limited editions. The special release includes a physical copy of the game, a soundtrack CD, and a full-color visual book, all packaged in a unique collector’s box. The exclusive nippon1.jp store edition adds extra goodies such as acrylic art, postcards, and a charm-inspired keychain perfect for fans who crave something tangible from the world of Lens.

With its fusion of investigative storytelling, psychological tension, and supernatural dread, Lens promises an unforgettable horror experience one where every clue, every shadow, and every heartbeat matters.
