Similar to our real life military ranks, ninja soldier in Naruto also have ranks. The official rank started from Genin, then promoted to Chunin and then the last one, Jounin. 5. The Lowest Rank for A Ninja

If compared to Indonesian military rank, Genin is equivalent to Soldier. To become a Genin, someone must enroll in ninja academy. Studying about ninja’s basic skills, train how to use chakra, and participating in numerous exams. After they graduated from the academy, someone is officially called as Genin.

After becomes a Genin, the ninja can be promoted to Chunin after taking numerous test called Chunin exams.

4. Accepting Rank D and C Missions

Missions in Naruto world are divided into 5 ranks, which is S, A, B, C, and D. Missions with rank D has the lowest difficulty possible and the S rank mission has the highest difficulty.

Because Genin is a starting rank for ninjas, mission they can take are starting from rank D to rank C. 

But, it is possible if a Genin taking rank B, A, or S missions if needed and their skill is high enough.

3. Working As a Team

After becoming a Genin, ninjas will be grouped in a team consist of 4 people, 3 Genins adn 1 Jonin as their instructor. Genin must take the mission with the team and cannot take it alone.

2. Have a Chance to Become a Kage

A Genin can be appointed as a Kage. The proof is Naruto. This seventh Hokage said that he is still a Genin when he appointed as Kage. But this is maybe a special case for Naruto. But, if the Genin has abilities equivalent to Kage, then why not?

1. Forever Genin Ninjas

Promoted as Chunin is not every Genin’s responsibility. There are two people who stays as a Genin until they die. In Konoha, there are two “Forever Genin” ninjas: Kosuke Maruboshi and Duy Maito.

Kosuke Maruboshi is called as “Forever Genin” because it has been 50 years or more he doesn’t get a promotion, even Konoha have offered him to do so. The reason why he doesn’t want to be promoted because he has a guilt over his comrade’s death in the past.

Duy Maito also called as “Forever Genin”. The father of Gai Maito doesn’t promoted because his performance as a Genins is very bad. This is because he always tired after constant training perfecting Eight Gates jutsu.
