Hagoromo Otsutsuki is the “father” of shinobi and ninjutsu. Establish peace in a world full of conflicts and give humans techniques to survive and fight using chakra, makes him glorified as “Rikudō Sennin” -- Sage of the Six Paths.

From his amazing supernatural abilities, all of his children inherit his supernatural powers. Let’s take a look at which ninja clan is a part of the Otsutsuki family tree. 

Family Tree of Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the Rikudō Sennini

Hagoromo and Hamura, his twin brother is born from Kaguya Otsutsuki and a king from an Ancient Nation named Tenji. But both of them never knew their father because he died in the hands of his lover after trying to stop Kaguya because her powers are too dangerous.

In their youth, Hagoromo and Hamura never realize that their mother uses her Tsukuyomi power to manipulate humans to protect the Chakra Fruit from the God tree; which the members Otsutsuki clan fought for. When Hagoromo learned of this from a frog from Myoboku Mountain named Gamamaru and the woman he loves, Haori, went missing.

Together with his twins, Hagoromo manages to stop Kaguya and seal Kaguya which merged with the God Tree to become the ten tailed Beast.

The two siblings decide to went separate ways: Hagoromo decided to stay on Earth and guide humans to keep the peace, while Hamura decided to live on the Moon to protect the seal of ten-tails from breaking.

Lineage of Hagoromo Otsutsuki

During his life, Hagoromo and his wife who died after giving birth to their two sons: Indra Otsutsuki and Ashura Otsutsuki. Both Indra and Ashura inherit the power of their father, later went separate ways and later fought one against the other: a fight that went for generations

Indra

The firstborn of Hagoromo’s family. He has amazing talent since he was young. Manipulated by the Black Zetsu and was not chosen by his father as the head of ninshu teachings, he attacked his own family then isolate his own self.

The descendant of Indra owns the power from “Hagoromo’s eye”, giving them spiritual energy, huge pool of chakra, and a special eye the Sharingan. There are two things passed down from Indra to the next generation:

• Uchiha Clan, a clan of ninja that inherits the power of Sharingan.
• Curse of Hatred, a cycle of hatred that shows when someone lost their object of affection and awaken their Sharingan. Continuing Indra’s believe that peace will exist when someone with immense power forces the people to make peace

Ashura

The youngest of Hagoromo’s family lacks talent but is charismatic which makes Ashura a friendly figure and a leader. Because of his skills to build connect his others, Hagoromo chooses Ashura as his successor.

The descendant of Ashura inherits the power from “Hagoromo’s body”, giving them life force and huge mana pool. Here are the things Ashura passed down:

• Senju Clan, Didn’t own a special skill like the Uchiha clan but all of the clan members master the Wood Release and other ninjutsu techniques easily.
• Uzumaki Clan, the distant relatives of the Senju Clan that’s blessed with fuinjutsu, chakra, and the ability to heal their own body.
• Will of Fire, adapted from Ashura’s ideology. In which peace grows because of love.

Other than the two sons, Hagoromo also passed down many things which he left on Earth: 

• 9 Tailed Beast: after sealing the ten tails to his body, Hagoromo used Banbutsu Sozo no Jutsu to split the chakra and created the tailed beast. The tailed beast is created to prevent the resurrection of the ten tails and keep the balance in the world. But their own power causes their own friendship to break and scares the citizens;
• Ninshu: Originally is a way to protect peace on Earth that’s flooded with wards, Hagoromo shares his chakra to all of the human and taught them the technique to understand one another spiritually and give the power to heal. But sadly after Indra’s betrayal and the death of Hagoromo, humanity uses ninshu to star wars -- changing it to what we know as ninjutsu.

Kinkaku and Ginkaku: Distant descendants of Hagoromo. Because of their physical strength, they can absorb the partial power of the nine tails by eating its flesh. 

Lineage of Hamura Otsutsuki

In the moon, Hamura kept the Otsutsuki Clan alive with his followers. But after his death, the Moon Clan splits into two: Main and Branch; where the both have conflicts because they have different believes. The Branch Clan thought that Hamura wanted to destroy the Earth if humans misuse the knowledge taught by Hagoromo.

Even when the Branch Clan won the war, they almost went extinct because of the civil war -- a man named Toneri Otsutsuki is the only living member of the Otsutsuki Clan left on this dimention

While the rest of Hamura's followers decided to live on earth and later have a clan of their own descendant called the Hyuga Clan, which inherits the power of Byakugan.
