VALORANT is a tactical FPS from Riot Games that has fascinating lore. For those of you who want to learn more about the events that occurred in the VALORANT universe, be sure to check out the entire lore in this article!

On this occasion, Dunia Games would like to discuss the complete story and events in VALORANT in chronological order.

VALORANT Lore

1. First Light: The Beginning of the Story and Agents in VALORANT

The reason why all the conflicts in the VALORANT universe exist is because of an event called The First Light. The First Light occurred around 2039, which created an element called Radianite – some people who are exposed to Radianite obtained superpowers, thus more and more VALORANT Agents are born. Blessed with special abilities called Radiant.

However, not all Agents in VALORANT have these powers, just like Killjoy and Brimstone. Due to Radianite’s tremendous power, 2 organizations were created to make the maximum use of Radianite and the superpowered people.

These organizations are Kingdom and VALORANT Protocol.

2. Kingdom and VALORANT Protocol

The Kingdom corporation is a power company that was created shortly after The First Light event. Over time, Kingdom found ways to use Radianite to their advantage to supply civilization with power.

Aside from that, the corporation also used the Radianite to create weapons, gadgets, and all sorts of tech-related stuff. To prevent superpowered people from going rogue, they created a secret sub-organization called the VALORANT Protocol, with Brimstone and Viper as its leaders.

Many parties hold grudge against Kingdom, and the VALORANT Protocol seeks them out and prevents rogue Agents like Phoenix and even recruits them to become part of the VALORANT Protocol. Their task is to keep peace in the world, but nobody knows about their real motives.

3. DUELIST Cinematic: The Origins of ‘Ascent’

In 2049, 10 years after The First Light, Jett appeared in Venice and planted some sort of explosive called Spike. Phoenix was sent to resolve the issue in the cinematic titled DUELIST. In this cinematic, we can see Jett vs. Phoenix and the bad ending — the Spike blows up and most of Venice flies into the air.

That part of Venice may be familiar to VALORANT players as it’s actually the Ascent map. After this incident, everyone was aware of Radianite’s powers and was looking for Jett. As a matter of fact, the Venice incident wasn’t Jett’s fault as they thought.

4. DUALITY Cinematic: Parallel World

One day after the Ascent incident, Agents were assigned to resolve another issue on Bind. A Spike was planted, and no one wanted the Ascent incident to reoccur. Killjoy managed to defuse the Spike, whereas Phoenix saw an enemy, who, as it turned out, was a replica of himself.

This was the biggest reveal in VALORANT lore. Mirror Agents from a parallel world are the opposites of the Agents in the real world.

The Spike’s purpose is to steal Radianite, meaning that the Attackers are the Mirror Agents from the parallel world, whereas the Defenders are the Original Agents.

Agents from the parallel world have depleted their Radianite resources, and are trying to steal them from the original world using Spike. So, the real culprit behind the Ascent incident was actually Jett’s mirror counterpart!

After the fight, Phoenix still tries to get a grasp of the situation whereas Viper seems to have already understood it. So, it’s possible that some people are already aware of the parallel world prior to that incident.

5. KAY/O: The Peacekeeper in VALORANT

Some of you may not be aware that Agent KAY/O isn’t from the original world, but an alternate world different from the mirror world we know of. In the alternate world, Agents have the full power, and the Radiants wipe out anyone who wasn’t bestowed with superpowers and who disobeyed them.

KAY/O was created to stop this — his purpose is to kill the Radiants, Agents who have gained superpowers from Radianite.

After the war ended, KAY/O teleported to the original world to prevent the war from ever existing.

6. Radiant War: A Massive Scale War Between the Radiants and Humans

The Radiant War is a major event that occurred about 200 years ahead, in KAY/O's possible future, causing mass-scale destruction all over the world.

Since the war is only a theorized event that occurred in KAY/O’s future, almost all we know of it is from KAY/O’s voice lines and the Agent trailer. This leaves a lot of speculations, so all of this may not be accurate.

The main conflict of the war was between Radiants and normal humans. While the direct linchpin that caused the war is unknown, we do know that Reyna went on to become the leader of the Radiant side. This is referenced by multiple of KAY/O's voice lines. It is likely that Reyna was also the instigator of the war, caused by her burning pride for her Radiance and her hatred for humans and technology.

KAY/O claims that several of the Agents in-game fight either alongside or against him in the war. While it may seem confusing at first how any individual would be able to live the 200 years

Within just 10 years of discovering Radianite, Kingdom has been able to use it for groundbreaking advancements in technology and medicine. Given enough time, it is very likely that the medical improvements achievable with Radianite would be enough to immensely increase lifespan, perhaps even to the extent of stopping aging. Average life expectancy can certainly rise to 200+ years.

Agents and their involvements in the Radiant War:

  • KAY/O (Humans)
  • Sova (Humans)
  • Brimstone (Humans)
  • Reyna (Radiants, Leader)
  • Phoenix (Radiants)
  • Jett (Radiants)
  • Skye (Radiants)
  • Astra (Radiants)
  • Sage (Unknown)

The war resulted in the deaths of several Agents like Brimstone, Jett, and Reyna.

7. Chamber: The Peacbreaker in VALORANT

When the cinematic for Chamber was first released, many fans were confused as Chamber is working alongside his mirror counterparts. Chamber has a crucial role in VALORANT lore.

The VALORANT Protocol was searching for a way to reach that parallel world. While on this mission, Brimstone and Viper got trapped. Chamber was the one who helped them out of that trap, whereas he got recruited to join the VALORANT Protocol.

Despite the fact that Chamber has helped VALORANT Protocol and even established a way to reach the parallel world, he has his ulterior motive.

The Fracture map was a research facility called the Everett-Linde research facility, which purpose was to create a source with unlimited Radianite to help out the parallel world and the original world.

However, Chamber and his counterparts destroyed the facility for an unknown reason. The destruction of the place caused many scientists to die, and ruined the effort and cause for the greater good and peace of the world.

Those were the major events that occurred in VALORANT lore. Each Agent has their story, but some have a bigger role in the main storyline of VALORANT.

After knowing about the VALORANT lore so far, some fans speculate that the next map may be located in the parallel world, but nothing can be confirmed yet.

Recently, VALORANT released a new Agent named Fade who will play a crucial role in the entire plot of the story. Let’s hope that the plot thickens in VALORANT.
