Some Pokemon require to meet certain conditions to evolve aside from leveling up and using Stones. For instance, Eevee evolves into Glaceon by visiting an ice area, and into Leafeon by visiting a forest area. The same goes for Magneton, who’s supposed to only be able to evolve by visiting magnetic fields. 

Yet in Pokemon Sword and Shield, a player has discovered a new way for Magneton to evolve into Magnezone without having to visit any magnetic field, but instead, using a Thunder Stone. This also applies to some Pokemon like Eevee who has similarly specific conditions to evolve into Glaceon and Leafeon.
