Playing Mobile Legends Can Lead Students to Military Barracks? Here’s What Dedi Mulyadi Has Said

Playing Mobile Legends is not a problem, honestly.

Has playing Mobile Legends led to something unpleasant? That’s certainly not what anyone has expected. Yet once again, the popular mobile game has been associated with negative behavior.

Recently, West Java official Dedi Mulyadi has brought up the idea of implementing military-style education for delinquent students in Indonesia. The initiative has been proposed as a way to reduce frequent violations committed by irresponsible youths.

The issue of student misbehavior in Indonesia has persisted for years. That’s why this idea has emerged, especially for areas that have experienced high rates of youth misconduct.

West Java, in particular, has been identified as one of the regions requiring attention. In previous statements, Dedi has explained that a military-style environment can help instill discipline and a sense of responsibility among students.

“Street fighters, drunkards, and Mobile Legends addicts—those who play all night and wake up in the afternoon,” Dedi said, as quoted by Kompas.com, referring to the kinds of students who could be eligible for this form of military-style education.

“Some of them skip school. They leave home saying they're going to school, but never actually arrive. Haven’t we all done that at some point?” he added.

The Negative Stigma Around Mobile Legends Must Be Erased

Despite the good intentions behind Dedi Mulyadi’s statements, his inclusion of Mobile Legends has sparked debate. To be fair, his message has targeted those who play the game late into the night, affecting their ability to attend or perform well in school the next morning.

At the end of the day, Mobile Legends can still be enjoyed—as long as it’s played at the right time. After all, MLBB has already brought major achievements to Indonesia on the global stage.

Indonesia has stood alongside the Philippines as one of the strongest nations in the Mobile Legends competitive scene. The country even has claimed a world championship title in the past.

Right now, the Indonesian MLBB scene has been thriving, with a healthy cycle of player regeneration already in place.

From grassroots tournaments to the top-tier leagues, structured competition has been established, giving the public more opportunities than ever to pursue their dreams in esports. The key is to take advantage of these opportunities without compromising education—just as Dedi Mulyadi has cautioned.
