The official Twitter account for the Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari anime adaptation of Onigunso's manga announced that Hidenori Takahashi will be returning to voice the character Tenjitsu in the anime's second season. Takahashi has previously voiced the character Hayate in the previous two seasons.

The second season of the Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari anime premiered on July 3rd 2023. The first season of Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari, which aired on Tokyo MX, BS11, and several other networks, was released on January 9th 2023. In addition, Crunchyroll has also broadcast this series globally, except in Asia.

The Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari anime was directed by Ryuichi Kimura, who was previously involved in Kemono Friends 2 and Aikatsu!. The scriptwriting is handled by Keiichiro Ochi, who has contributed to series such as The Quintessential Quintuplets and The Demon Girl Next Door. The characters in this anime were designed by Shiori Fujisawa, and the music was composed by John Kanda and XELIK.

Meanwhile, the second season's opening theme song, entitled "Ta ga Tame" (For Whose Sake), was sung by Megatera Zero, while the ending theme song, "Private Room," was sung by Azusa Tadokoro.

The story of the manga Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari, published in English by Seven Seas, tells the story of spirits who can take physical form when they cross into the human world. They are known as tsukumogami and can be kind, violent, or even somewhere in between. The Saenome family is tasked with helping these tsukumogami return to the spirit world peacefully, preventing them from becoming destructive.

The main character, Kunato Hyouma, is a member of the Saenome family, but he is not very peaceful. He still harbors a grudge against a tsukumogami who once robbed him of something that meant something to him. His grandfather, worried about Hyouma's anger in dealing with these spirits, decides to send him to Kyoto, where he will live with Nagatsuki Botan, a young woman who is unique because she lives with tsukumogami like her family.

The manga first started in Shueisha's Miracle Jump magazine in April 2014 before moving to Ultra Jump magazine in January 2016. Additionally, the manga can also be enjoyed via Shueisha's website, Shonen Jump+.
