Toei Animation, GameOn and NEOWIZ have announced the development of a smartphone game based on the popular manga Zatch Bell! which is also known as Konjiki no Gash!! by Makoto Raiku. The game is titled Konjiki no Gash Bell!! Towa no Kizuna no Nakama-tachi (Zatch Bell: Friends Are an Immortal Bond) and is slated for release this year.

NEOWIZ will be in charge of developing this Konjiki no Gash game. They are currently accepting applications for a closed trial which will take place from September 6th 2023, with the trial itself scheduled for mid-September 2023.

The Konjiki no Gash manga series was first published in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in 2001 and ended in 2007. A total of 33 compiled book volumes have been published by Shogakukan for this series. In North America, Viz Media published the first 25 volumes before discontinuing publication.

The Konjiki no Gash manga story follows Kiyomaro Takamine, a junior high school student who is smart but is often ridiculed for his arrogant attitude. His father sends an unexpected birthday present in the form of a boy named Gash to help Kiyomaro make friends and change his behavior. Along with Gash's arrival, a mysterious red spell book appears that allows Gash to use his magic.

This manga was later adapted into an anime series which consisted of 150 episodes and aired from 2003 to 2006. Apart from that, there were also two anime movies titled Zatch Bell: 101st Devil and Zatch Bell: Attack of Mechavulcan which were released in 2004 and 2005.

In the United States, Toonami aired 77 episodes of the anime from 2005 to 2007. Viz Media also released the first 100 episodes on DVD compilations from 2005 to 2007.

Makoto Raiku, the creator, had stopped collaborating with Shogakukan after settling a lawsuit regarding five of his lost color artworks. He then launched the manga Konjiki no Gash!! 2 on various digital book services in March 2022.

Apart from that, Raiku is also known for his work Animal Land (Dobutsu no Kuni) which began in 2009 and ended in 2013 and Vector Ball which was launched in April 2016 and suddenly ended in March 2017.
