MBS recently released a teaser video to announce the adaptation of the manga entitled Dandadan by Yukinobu Tatsu into an anime series which is planned to air next year.

Fuga Yamashiro (assistant director of Tatami Time Machine Blues) will direct the Dandadan anime at Science SARU, while Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan The Final Season, Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, Mob Psycho 100) will supervise and write the screenplay.

Composer Kensuke Ushio (Chainsaw Man, DEVILMAN crybaby, Liz and the Blue Bird) will compose the music, while Naoyuki Onda (Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc) will be in charge of character design, and Yoshimichi Kameda (Mob Psycho 100) will design aliens and their supernatural entities.

The manga Dandadan is published in English by Viz, and they describe the story:

A nerd must fight powerful spirits and aliens vying for the secret power of his "family jewel." Who better to fight alongside him than his school crush and spirit grandma?! Momo Ayase and Okarun are on opposite ends of the paranormal spectrum in what they believe.

Momo Ayase, who believes in spirits, forms an unexpected friendship with a UFO enthusiast at her school whom she nicknames "Okarun" because he has an unpronounceable name. While Momo considers aliens to be nonsense, Okarun holds the opposite view.

The two of them embark on an adventure to prove their respective views, by getting involved in paranormal events and battles full of surprises.

Dandadan has been serialized on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ service, and the 12th volume will be published on December 4th 2023. Jump Festa 2024 will be the stage for news about the anime, including cast and other information, which will be announced on December 16th 2023.
