Kill Blue Anime Adaptation Officially Announced
Great news for Shonen Jump fans: Kill Blue, the manga created by Tadatoshi Fujimaki, is officially getting an anime adaptation. The announcement was made alongside the release of Weekly Shonen Jump’s 40th issue, which also marked the manga’s final chapter.
Shueisha has also confirmed the upcoming release of the collected manga volumes. Volume 11 is scheduled for September 4, 2025, followed by Volume 12 on November 4, and Volume 13 on December 4, 2025.
Experienced Production Staff
The anime will be directed by Hiro Kaburagi, known for his work on Great Pretender, Hozuki’s Coolheadedness, and My Little Monster. With such a strong portfolio, fans are confident that the adaptation will deliver both visually and narratively.
Character design is handled by Miho DaidÅji, who has extensive experience as an animation director, particularly for all three seasons of Kuroko’s Basketball and the feature film Last Game. With her involvement, characters from Kill Blue are expected to come to life with dynamic and expressive designs.
Studio CUE’s First Big Project
Another highlight of this project is that Kill Blue will be the first full TV anime produced by Studio CUE. Founded in 2023 through a collaboration between digital giant DMM and Rui Kuroki (former Production I.G executive), the studio is aiming high with this debut.
As CUE’s first large-scale project, Kill Blue will be a true test for the studio’s capabilities in the highly competitive anime industry.
What Is Kill Blue About?
For those new to the series, Kill Blue first launched in April 2023. The story follows Juzo Ogami, a legendary hitman who suddenly wakes up in the body of a teenager. To uncover the mystery behind this transformation, he is forced to return to school—a place he never imagined setting foot in again.
With its mix of action, mystery, and school comedy, Kill Blue quickly stood out among Shonen Jump titles and built a dedicated fanbase.
International Availability
Beyond Japan, the manga is also accessible worldwide. Viz Media has released the series in both digital and print formats. The first volume is already available, and the third print volume is set for release on October 14, 2025. Additionally, MANGA Plus streams the manga digitally for international readers.
Fujimaki’s Track Record
Author Tadatoshi Fujimaki is no stranger to success. He is best known for Kuroko’s Basketball (2008–2014), a hit series that spawned three anime seasons, several films, light novels, and even stage adaptations.
He also wrote Robot × Laserbeam (2017–2018) and one-shots like Kiruaoharu in 2021. With such a strong background, it’s no surprise that his latest work is once again being adapted into anime.
Why Fans Should Look Forward to It
With Fujimaki’s reputation, a skilled production staff, and Studio CUE’s ambitious debut, the Kill Blue anime is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated titles of 2026. Its blend of action-packed storytelling, mystery, and comedic school settings promises a fresh take on the shonen genre.
For fans of Shonen Jump and anime with unique twists, Kill Blue should definitely be on your watchlist next year.
