VALORANT is having the arrival of the new map called “Breeze”, a more cheerful map set on a tropical island. Icebox, a map that was previously released by Riot Games for VALORANT has received some complaints. In fact, players tend to dodge this map. It’s expected that with the arrival of the new VALORANT map, Breeze, players will get a map that they’ve been looking for. 

In comparison, Icebox and Breeze share some similarities in terms of their massive size and long-range combat as the main feature of these maps. However, the writer prefers Breeze to Icebox. 

1. The first reason is the visuals. In my opinion, the visuals on Breeze are brighter, making the battle looks more vivid;
2. Second, although both maps are similarly huge, Breeze has more strategic spots for ambushes. There are lots of ideal locations to camp, such as the A Switch; Mid Top; B Tunnel; and B Back;
3. There are many routes that can take you to A Site and B Site. This gives players room to devise their strategies.

VALORANT’s Breeze

Breeze is a new map in VALORANT that is set on an island in the southern part of the Bermuda Triangle. With its bright, cheerful, and colorful environment, this map has so many open spaces and is designed for long-range battles. 

Devon Fay, the Lead Artist of VALORANT, said that the Caribbean Islands inspired the new VALORANT map. He admitted that he loves old forts and tropical beaches. According to him, the release of Breeze makes VALORANT looks more cheerful, after the cold world of Icebox.

“Breeze was heavily inspired by islands in the Caribbean. We loved the old forts and tropical beaches. After the cold, angular world of Icebox, we were really excited for the open, bright, colorful world of Breeze,” Devon Vay said.

Sal Garozzo, the Senior Game Designer of Riot Games, stated that the main purpose of releasing Breeze is to give players more open spaces with longer sightlines compared to other maps. As a result, Agents and certain weapons will have the chance to stand out on this map.

“One of the main goals we had with Breeze was building larger and more open spaces with longer sightlines than the other maps in the pool. This provides an opportunity for different weapons and agents to shine,” Sal Garozzo said.
