Marvel Studios finally reveals the trailer and latest information about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This is the third film prepared by marvel Studios out of the three MCU films that will air in 2021.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton with a theme of Chinese martial arts. Like Black Widow, Shang-Chi is also a superpowerless Marvel superhero. Shang-Chi only has the martial art that was taught to him since young.

Besides the fighting scenes, the trailer also revealed the villains who will appear in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Let’s get to know the villains Shang-Chi will face before you watch the film.

Mandarin

Mandarin in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is different from the Mandarin who appeared in Iron Man 3. The Mandarin in this film is played by Tony Leung and has another named, Wenwu. This character is the father of Shang-Chi. An opposite of the comic book, where Shang-Chi’s father is a sorcerer named Zheng Zu and led a group named Five Weapon Society. Mandarin in MCU is the leader of a terrorist group called Ten Rings.

In the comic book, Mandarin is also a villain with high status. He is a smart scientist who is trying to conquer the world. Mandarin is feared because of his martial art and owns 10 alien rings. Each ring grants him special powers.

Mandarin in the MCU is different in the comic book, Mandarin in MCU doesn’t have the 10 magical rings. But he is a leader of a terrorist group called Ten Rings. Wenwu who is seen holding the hand of young Shang-Chi is wearing ten bracelets that emit a blue aura. The bracelet may be the source of Wenwu’s power.

Wnewu’s desire to conquer the world impacted his son, Shang-Chi. Since young, Shang-Chi was forced to train to be an assassin. In hopes that Shang-Chi will inherit his empire. But after his training, Shang-Chi rebelled and chose a different path. This made Wenwu an opponent of Shang-Chi.

Death Dealer

The trailer also reveals a mysterious masked figure. Although not much is explained, this character is a villain from the comic book known as Death Dealer.

Citing Screenrant, Death Dealer is created by Doug Moench and Gene Day and first appeared in Master of Kung Fu #115 that was published in 1982. He is born with the name Li Ching-Lin and is a double-agent of Fu Manchu and MI6

Death Dealer in the MCU is Shang-Chi’s martial art teacher when he was young. He is also a member of the Ten Rings who may be Shang-Chi’s biggest opponent next to his father.

Ten Rings

Besides Wenwu and Death Dealer, it seems like Shang-Chi will also face the members of Ten Rings. The terrorist group led by his father is also revealed in the trailer. Where you can see troops lining up when a helicopter is landing.

Ten Rings members are trained for combat. Because he rebelled against his father, it looks like Shang-Chi will face his father’s private troops.

Razor Fist

In the trailer of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, we also saw a character named Razor Fist. He is one of the villains holding the titled Master of Kung Fu. The character played by Florian Munteanu was seen fighting Shang-Chi on a train.

In the comic, Razor Fist is powerless. He just has physical strength and martial skill above average human. Razor Fist’s look in the comic is also different from the MCU, where both of Razor Fist’s arms were amputated and replaced with swords. But only his right hand is replaced with a sword in the MCU.

Xialing

Finally, a female villain who Shang-Chi will face. She is Xialing and possibly adapted from Fah Lo Suee from the comics. In the comics, Fah Lo Suee is Shang-Chi’s sister. But she chose a different path from Shang-Chi and inherits her father’s evil plan. But it may change when she met Shang-Chi and choose to help him instead.

That’s the list of villains who will appear in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This Marvel Studios film is slated to premiere on 3 September 2021.
