Aura Fire has become the talking point in the MPL ID Season 9 with the team’s impressive run so far in the competition. From the five matches played, the team only suffered one defeat so far – against EVOS Legends. Due to its consistent form, Aura Fire currently sits second in the standings, with a single point margin behind ONIC Esports.

Based on the team’s performances in the previous seasons, Aura Fire has made lots of improvements, as if they’re dragons that have awakened from their slumber. So, what aspects lead to Aura Fire’s rapid growth to become a strong candidate for winning the MPL ID Season 9?

Great Chemistry Between the Players

In comparison to the other teams, Aura Fire maintains the team’s roster with little to no changes from the MPL ID Season 7. With this roster, the team has suffered numerous defeats and only won some of the matches.

Esports enthusiasts in Indonesia started to use the nickname “MPL Clowns” for Aura Fire, who at the time wasn’t able to give much of a fight against other teams in the Regular Season. Of the 14 matches played, Aura Fire didn’t manage to win a single one, ended up at the bottom of the Regular Season standings.

As a matter of fact, Geek Fam, the team that also had a terrible season, still managed to scrap 4 victories. In the end, Aura Fire and Geek Fam got their season ended early in the MPL ID Season 7 Regular Season.

Receiving insults from the netizens, the management at Aura Fire didn’t cave in. They insisted on sticking with the roster, trying to build more solid chemistry between the players.

When announcing the team’s roster for the MPL ID Season 8, Aura Fire didn’t make many changes — with some players, Vaanstrong and Vanss, leaving the team. The only change was bringing Tezet back to MPL ID.

With this roster, Aura Fire began to get a better picture of what their playstyle would be by relying on High’s “cheese picks”. The coach, Reza Pahlevi, put a lot of faith in High as Aura’s Main Jungler with his impeccable Tank plays.

To everyone’s surprise, High’s Karina Jungle managed to dish out an insane amount of damage despite using a Tank build. To top it off, with this hero and build, it was very difficult to kill High as he had tons of HP, Magic Resist, and Armor. A lot of players started to emulate High’s plays, to the point that Karina became a META hero in Ranked games.

Reza Pahlevi is the one who deserves some appreciation for the team’s recent resurrection. It only took about two seasons for him to turn Aura Fire into a force to be reckoned with. His closeness with the players has been the key for him to earn respect as the leader.

For those who aren’t aware, Reza Pahlevi was the team manager at Aura Fire. However, in the MPL ID Season 8, he took over as the coach – replacing CL who resigned from the post.

Serving as the new Aura Fire coach, Reza Pahlevi gradually mended Aura Fire’s weaknesses. Evidently, Godiva and co were able to advance to the playoffs – Season 4 being the last time for them to play in the playoffs.

Aura Fire’s performance began to improve as the team was able to play brilliantly in the MPL ID Season 8 playoffs against EVOS Legends. Yet unfortunately, they suffered a 3-2 defeat.

Despite the team’s short-lived run in the MPL ID Season 8 playoffs, Aura Fire didn’t stop. Day by day, the team was able to perform better. The Piala Presiden Esports 2021 became the tipping point for Aura Fire’s revival in the competitive scene.

From the group stage, Aura Fire was unstoppable with 4 victories — as the team sat at the top of the standings. In the playoffs, Aura crushed RRQ Sena in the semifinals and Alter Ego 3-1 in the finals.

The Piala Presiden Esports 2021 was the first time for Aura Fire to lift a major Mobile Legends trophy -- ending the team’s slump. In the new season of the MPL ID, Aura Fire has shown consistent performances. The team only suffered 1 defeat at the start of the season. Aura Fire proves that the so-called “Clowns” have become a force to be reckoned with in the league.
