In Captain Tsubasa series, Aoi Shingo is a Japanese player that idolizes Tsubasa Ozora. Shingo thinks that Tsubasa is a hero that inspires him to become a professional player. But before becoming a successful professional player in Italy, he lives an unfortunate life.

When participating in a national elementary school tournament, Shingo that was playing for Nakahara, played against Tsubasa and Nankatsu. At that time, Shingo that loses to Tsubasa, lost his will and decided to stop playing. But Tsubasa encourages him, so he changed his mind and kept on playing.

At that moment, Katagiri is yet to realize Shingo’s potential, so he is not chosen to ply for the Japanese Junior team.

When Tsubasa is going to Brazil to realize one of his dreams, Shingo waits for him at the airport and cheers on him so Tsubasa can become successful in Brazil. Before Shingo went away, Tsubasa remembers that Shingo is a Nakahara player that wore number 12.

Tsubasa then thank Shingo and gave him three coins from three different countries. Shingo then uses the coins as his lucky charm. Shingo was about to say something, but Tsubasa already boards the airplane, so Shingo never got to say his words.

Shingo is fired up after being noticed by his idol and decides to continue playing soccer in Italy, a country famous for soccer. Unfortunately, bad luck happens to Shingo not too long after Shingo arrives in Italy. 

Shingo that saves up his money, is scammed by an individual claiming to work for the Inter Primavera club. The individual claims that if Shingo gives him money, then the person will introduce Shingo to the Inter’s coach. The scammer then drops off Shingo at Inter’s stadium and left him there. 

When the coach arrives, he stated that he never knew the individual that scamShingo. Shingo lost ¥150.000, or around €1.400 or Rp20.000.000. Shingo that lost all of his money, decides to work as a shoeshiner after being offered the job.

Shingo also often do juggling to entertain his customers. After his juggling, the entertained customers then pay Shingo. This becomes a blessing for Shingo that just lost all of his money.

When Shingo is doing his personal training, he met Inter’s manager, and the man, Calimero, is impressed with Shingo’s talent. Calimero then gives Shingo a trial by placing him in the B team during Inter’s training session.

Shingo plays excellently and scores on the greatest European goalkeeper, Gino Hernandez. After that event, Shingo joins the main team and become a professional soccer player. He also earns the respect of Hernandez, which is also the captain of Inter Primavera.
