GTA 5 has been known as a video game flooded with mysteries and easter eggs. Some easter eggs have just been discovered years since the initial release of the game. One of which is the mystery of the mural on Mount Chiliad, the highest mountain in San Andreas.

The mural depicts four main symbols, an alien in a UFO, a cracked egg, a jetpack, and at the very top of the mural, an eye. There has been a lot of speculations regarding the true meaning of this mural. Ranging from an Illuminati conspiracy, the existence of aliens and jetpack in GTA 5, to the GTA Online Doomsday Heist DLC.

As for the Doomsday Heist, the main story does take place inside of the Mount Chiliad. Yet this DLC was released in 2017, four years after the mural was first discovered. Thus, it can be confirmed that the mural has nothing to do with the Doomsday Heist.

Six years ago, the Indonesian YouTuber, Tara Arts, had found the UFO depicted in the mural. Yet the mystery doesn’t end there. There are still hidden meanings from the mural that have just been solved in 2020.

The Alien, The Egg, and The Jetpack

Based on the theory proposed by the YouTube channel Strange Man, the three symbols at the bottom of the mural represent the three main characters of GTA 5; Michael; Franklin; and Trevor. The alien represents Michael as the ‘alienated’ person in his family and his circle. 

The cracked egg represents Franklin, who has been reborn after meeting Michael and Lester. Franklin used to live a hard life, and he got a sudden change of fate after meeting the two characters, although by getting involved in their criminal acts.

Whereas the jetpack represents Trevor who is a former Air Force pilot. Unfortunately, he was expelled and got grounded for life due to being emotionally unstable, and then he met Michael and began his journey in the criminal world by robbing banks.

Course of Fate

This mural also has some lines connecting to one another. There are dotted lines that come out of the alien and the jetpack (light blue), which implies that either Michael or Trevor can be killed at the end of the GTA 5 main storyline.

The line that goes out from the egg (yellow) connects straight to the eye, implying that Franklin is the only main character in GTA 5 who will survive at the end of the storyline. As for the line that connects the alien and the jetpack (blue) implies the strong bond between Michael and Trevor in the past, long before they met Franklin.

Furthermore, the red line that comes out of the alien is lower than the green line from the jetpack. This suggests that in the GTA 5 main storyline, Michael met Franklin earlier in the game before they both met Trevor.

The five 'Xs' shown in the mural indicate the five requirements that must be met to reach the 100% Completion achievement. After completing all of these five requirements, a UFO will appear at the top of Mount Chiliad during stormy weather. The UFO is depicted with an eye symbol, while the storm is depicted with the bolts of lightning surrounding Mount Chiliad.

Moreover, you can see the message "Come back when your story is complete" at the top of the mountain, hinting the players to get the 100% Completion achievement before progressing to solve the mystery. At this place, you can also see the eye symbol from the mural.

Once all of the missions have been completed, when you get back to the top of Mount Chiliad during stormy weather, a UFO will appear, marking the end of the easter egg from the Mount Chiliad mural mystery. It also serves as the closure and an answer to the big question in the GTA 5 community regarding the meaning behind the symbols in the mural.
