The popularity of My Hero Academia is not only limited to the characters' developed or exciting battles, but also the fact that it has so many heartbreaking moments. Starting from All Might's universal love for the world to Shoto's painful childhood to Mirio Togata's selfless sincerity when choosing to save a child or lose his powers.

The characters in My Hero Academia anime cried a lot, more so than most shonen anime. That's because the story focused on the relationships and emotions spent maintaining the characters. Because of this, choosing which moments that will move the audience heart the most is no easy task, but there are a few moments that will make even the hardest heart melt.

10 Saddest Moments in My Hero Academia

1. Bakugo Get Kidnapped

Considering Midoriya's complicated friendship with Bakugo this incident becomes a touching moment, Bakugo is kidnapped by Overhaul, aided by Kurogiri's teleportation. Additionally, this is one of the rare moments when Bakugo himself asks Deku not to follow him, showing that he knows no one can save him at that point. Midoriya immediately noticed the emotional change, which pissed him off even more.

2. When All Might Transfers all of his power

All Might decides that Deku is ready to inherit ultimate power, and asks his pupil to eat one of his hairs. After the hilarious scene, they both cried, after realizing the consequences of the event for both of them. In fact, All Might asked Midoriya to stop crying, like he usually does, except he was crying at the same time.

3. Deku Vs. Bakugo

There have been far too many scenes like this, with most ending with Bakugo insulting Deku and leaving in a rage. However, when they were paired together against All Might, only Midoriya attempted to put their animosity aside, claiming that they would not be able to pass through the final gate without a truce, either temporarily or permanently.

4. Midoriya Convinced Todoroki To Use His Full Power

Todoroki Shoto absolutely refuses to use his Quirk's Flame powers, which hasn't made much of a difference to him in most of his previous battles, considering his already excellent ice abilities. But against Midoriya, there was no choice. There is a shock to the audience when Deku starts urging him to unleash his full power, that self-restraint will hurt no one but himself.

5. Todoroki’s Past

It was heartbreaking to see young Todoroki experience so much violence, and it was shocking to see the way Endeavor treated his wife, Rei. Seeing everything Todoroki has been through, it's understandable that he would grow to hate his father and struggle to accept Endeavor.

6. Lemillion’s Sacrifice

In his final attempt to save Eri from one of the worst fathers ever, Mirio Togata faces a nearly invincible opponent, Overhaul. At first, Lemillion's incredible control over his Quirk phases seems to get the better of the villain, even landing a few hits. Nemoto also fires a Quirk Erasing Bullet at the little girl, which Mirio bravely and happily takes the bullet for her, and makes him lose his Permeation.

7. Sir Nighteye Passed Away

Nighteye's injury turned out to be serious, even when treated by the best medical team. This makes Lemillion and Deku very disappointed, as can be seen from the very sad scene, in the hospital room when their mentor died.

8. Little Midoriya Finds Out About His Quirk

Midoriya is very excited to get his Quirk, it can be seen from his worship of All Might and Bakugo. However, when he does not display any unique talents, he is taken to a doctor who explains that he will still be Quirkless. The scene was really touching because of the disappointment Midoriya felt.

9. Eri

Chisaki tortured Eri mentally and physically to the extent that she didn't know what smiling was. She was forced to undergo inhumane experiments, which terrified her. It's great that she was saved, but it's so sad that she has to deal with so much trauma.

10. Aizawa’s Past

While Aizawa was in the United States, his close friend, Oboro, was killed in a thug attack, and that event influenced Aizawa into the man he is today. After Oboro's death, Aizawa felt guilty and blamed himself for not being strong enough.
