SaintDeLucaz is the coach of Team Liquid ID in MPL ID Season 14 who has succeeded in bringing his team to appear aggressive and consistent in every match. With experience as a former Dota 2 player, he has in-depth knowledge of game strategy and execution.
His visionary leadership and ability to hone the players' talents have made Team Liquid ID one of the most respected teams today.
1. Became a Mobile Legends Coach After Leaving Dota 2
After parting ways with BOOM Esports and deciding to take a break from the competitive scene, SaintDeLucaz's name briefly disappeared. However, he had previously joined RRQ's Dota 2 division.
Unlike other players who directly transitioned into Mobile Legends as players or coaches, he participated in the Esports Star Indonesia talent search competition and secured the runner-up position.
In early 2020, Dota 2 veterans like Facehugger, 2Hoi, Vlaicu, Aville, Yabyoo, SaintDeLucaz, and Bubu attempted to form a team to compete in the MPL. Unfortunately, the team disbanded due to personal commitments.
"At the beginning of 2020, Aville invited me to switch to Mobile Legends. We had formed a team with former Dota 2 players, but it fell apart mid-year. Eventually, we joined Esports Star Indonesia and finished as runners-up," he shared.
2.Turning Point to Success as a Coach
Even though the games are different, SaintDeLucaz chose to focus as a MOBA coach rather than a player, considering his experience and to make room for young players.
Becoming an Aerowolf trainer is a new challenge, especially after this position was filled by Acil. Despite a difficult start to the season with many losses, Aerowolf is full of veteran players such as Watt and Kido, as well as Clay, Fredo, Rinazmi, Marz, and Bravo, who have high abilities. With careful strategy, SaintDeLucaz managed to make his team a dark horse, beating top teams such as EVOS, ONIC, RRQ and Alter Ego.
3. Developing amidst Negative Esports Issues
Before the current development of esports, this industry often received a negative stigma because it was seen as just a gaming activity. SaintDeLucaz did not get support from his family, except from his older brother.
When he entered his final semester of college, he asked permission to take part in a tournament at Pondok Gaming. With limited money, this former Dota 2 player left Bandung and went to Jakarta.
After participating in the tournament, he managed to prove that esports can make money. The championship prize he won was given to his parents as proof, while asking for permission to join the Pondok Gaming team. He also explained that there he would get a salary and a place to live.
