Netflix Brings Baki-Dou Anime in 2026

Good news for fans of muscle-packed action anime: Netflix has officially announced the Baki-Dou anime adaptation, releasing its first teaser trailer, main visual, and confirming the series will premiere in 2026.

This marks another milestone in the long-running franchise created by Keisuke Itagaki. For longtime fans, it’s an exciting opportunity to once again witness the brutal, high-impact battles that have defined the series for decades.

The Long History of the Baki Franchise

The Baki name is no stranger to manga and anime enthusiasts. The story began with Baki The Grappler, serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion from 1991 to 1999. The manga ran for 42 volumes and laid the foundation for one of Japan’s most popular martial arts franchises.

Its massive success spawned several sequels, including:

  • Baki (1999–2005) with 31 volumes

  • Hanma Baki (2005–2012) with 37 volumes

  • The first Baki-Dou (2014–2018) with 22 volumes

Interestingly, Baki-Dou didn’t just appear once. Another manga series with the same title—though written with different kanji—was published from October 2018 to June 2023. Currently, Itagaki is continuing his work with the brand-new Baki Rahen, which has been serialized since August 2023.

Expanding to a Global Audience

The excitement doesn’t stop at the anime. Fans around the world can also look forward to a major publishing milestone: Kodama Tales will officially release Baki The Grappler in English starting in October 2025.

This global launch means more readers can access the series legally and enjoy the original story from the very beginning. It’s a big step toward expanding Baki’s reach in the international market.

Netflix’s Journey with Baki Anime

Netflix has already been a key player in bringing Baki anime to fans. It began with New Grappler Baki: In Search of Our Strongest Hero in 2018, followed by Baki: Dai Raitaisai-hen (2020), and Baki Hanma (2021–2023).

Baki Hanma delivered two major story arcs that became instant fan favorites: Tale of Pickle & The Pickle War Sagaand The Father VS Son Saga. The legendary showdown between Baki and his father Yujiro Hanma remains one of the most iconic moments in the franchise.

With Baki-Dou now confirmed for 2026, fans can expect even more high-octane martial arts battles, elevated by modern animation and Netflix’s global platform.

The upcoming Baki-Dou anime isn’t just another adaptation—it’s proof that Keisuke Itagaki’s work continues to captivate audiences worldwide.

With its deep legacy, upcoming global manga release, and Netflix’s ongoing commitment to the franchise, Baki stands tall as more than just a fighting series. It’s a cultural phenomenon that keeps evolving and finding new fans across generations.

So the only question left is: are you ready to witness the next chapter of Baki’s bone-crushing battles in 2026?
