Back again with another Boruto episode discussion! Last week, Boruto Episode 140 aired. While in the previous episode, we’re being introduced to Konoha Genin Team 40, this time, we will see Inojin tries to learn the signature technique of the Yamanaka Clan, Shintenshin no Jutsu or Mind Transfer Jutsu. There’s a bit of family conflict in this episode. Let’s see the discussion.

5. Inojin Feels Insecure

Boruto Episode 140 opens with the Ino-Shika-Cho team working on a mission to capture a criminal. The criminal uses a hostage to protect himself. Shikadai couldn’t use Kagemane no Jutsu, because, at that time, they’re in a dark place, so there wouldn’t be any shadow. He then asks Inojin to use Shintenshin no Jutsu to the criminal. But, due to his insecurities on his own ability, the blonde genin stood still. Fortunately, Shikadai’s shadow reappeared, and he was able to complete their mission.

Inojin realizes that he’s far from mastering that signature jutsu of the Yamanaka Clan. That being said, he’s determined to improve that skill.

4.  Inojin Doesn’t Have Strong Determination

Inojin expresses his desire to learn more about Shintenshin. Ino certainly agrees to her son’s request happily.

At this point, Inojin is already good at transferring his minds into a tanuki, but he doesn’t seem to be able to that on a person since they have their own wills. In order to influence someone with his mind, Inojin must have a stronger determination compared to his targets - which he currently doesn’t have. Exactly, Inojin is the type of kid who gives up easily before trying.

3. The Kid is Trying to Learn, While The Parents Get In A Fight

Inojin failed to stop Chocho from wanting to eat chips with Shintenshin, and he’s discouraged. Sai, who could not bear to see his son struggling, offered him to train Chouju Giga as a distraction. Ino seems infuriated with her husband interrupting their Shintenshin training. Sai also did not want to budge. From then on, they began to quarrel, and punches are being thrown (by Ino, since Sai just tries to avoid and keeps his distance from his wife’s attacks). Why did it end up like this?

2. Calming Down Ino and Sai

So, how do you stop a fight between Ino and Sai? Chocho suggests Inojin of using the Shintenshin technique to the mother and persuade her to calm down. 

The boy tries once, but he fails, since Ino’s anger is still far greater. Again, Inojin gives up. Luckily, Chocho encourages his teammate. Eventually, Inojin was able to reduce Ino’s anger in her subconscious. Chocho also suggests Sai hug his wife to make it up to her.

1. Does Inojin’s Have Better Determination Now?

With that incident, Inojin understood how it feels to have a strong determination. 

The next day, at Lightning Burger, Team 7 wants to know how would Inojin hold his Shintenshin no Jutsu. He immediately performs Shintenshin no Jutsu to Chocho, who’s trying to munch her fries. Inojin finally succeeded in taking over Chocho’s body with no difficulties, although at that time, Chouji’s only daughter was craving for her favorite food. This means that Inojin’s determination has surpassed Chocho’s!

Those were five interesting things you may find in Boruto Episode 140. The core of the Shintenshin jutsu is a strong determination. As well as other jutsus. A strong will and high ambition are what great ninjas have to be able to learn numerous top-class jutsus.
