All teams showcased their strengths on the first day, and many surprises and unexpected results were presented in this round of the M7 World Championship. Two Indonesian teams, ONIC and Alter Ego, successfully navigated their first matches.

In the opening match, ONIC made a strong start to their M7 World Championship debut, defeating Boostgate Esports, a Turkish team that had shone in the Wild Card round. Despite being under pressure, Kairi and his teammates managed to rebound and turn things around to secure the victory. Meanwhile, Alter Ego Esports secured a unanimous decision victory over AURORA Turkiye. Now, ONIC will continue their journey against Myanmar's Yangon Galacticos.

ONIC Loses to YG in the M7 World Championship, But There's Still Hope!

The match between ONIC and Yangon Galacticos (YG) took place on Sunday, January 11, 2026, as a continuation of the M7 World Championship Swiss Stage. For your information, Yangon Galacticos had previously won their match against Team Zone, a Mongolian team that had previously shone in the Wild Card round. This match was crucial because if ONIC lost to YG, they would not advance to the 2-0 bracket and would have to move to the 1-1 bracket.

The match would still be a best-of-1 (BO1) format, so it could be said that both teams had a fairly even chance of winning. Against YG, ONIC used Sora, Leomord, Gatot Kaca, Pharsa, and Karrie. Meanwhile, YG used Fanny, Luo Yi, Hylos, Claude, and Valentina. YG's cheese pick of Valentina EXP was quite unexpected.

Early in the game, Yangon Galacticos played quite aggressively, especially with Hann's Fanny. Teamfight after teamfight ensued rapidly in the mid-game, as ONIC attempted to recover and counter YG's various attacks. YG secured the first Lord and attempted to attack ONIC's base. Step by step, YG successfully disarmed ONIC's defensive turrets.

A teamfight ensued towards ONIC's base. Luo Yi Lina managed to take down Kairi and Kiboy. Lutpii was also taken down, and the YG squad moved quickly to clear ONIC's inner turrets to secure victory. ONIC's chances of defeat against YG were imminent, a situation that was quite dangerous for Kairi and his teammates. The remaining S A N Z and Skylar were unable to defend, as the minion wave slowly entered.

The YG squad didn't waste their opportunity. Ultimately, ONIC lost to YG after struggling to withstand the onslaught. YG's collective play effectively quelled ONIC's strength. Even though ONIC lost against YG, Kairi and his friends will still survive in round 3. ONIC officially moved to the Mid bracket (1-1) while Yangon Galacticos got the chance to move to the High bracket (2-0) one step towards the Knockout round.
