The Final Destination franchise is known for its unique concept of fate and unavoidable death. Each film follows a group of people who escape a catastrophic disaster thanks to a premonition, only to be hunted down by death one by one.

Across the five released films, nearly all main characters end up dead. However, among the string of tragic deaths, only two characters are said to have permanently escaped death. So, who are they?

Kimberly Corman

Kimberly Corman is the protagonist of Final Destination 2, who has a premonition of a deadly highway pile-up. Thanks to her vision, she manages to save several lives. Throughout the film, Kimberly works alongside Thomas Burke to break death’s pattern.

She even takes an extreme step by drowning herself in an attempt to “restart” her life cycle. Kimberly survives at the end of the movie and never appears in any of the sequels, leading many fans to believe she successfully cheated death.

However, a newspaper article featured in the DVD bonus content for Final Destination 3 claims that Kimberly died after falling into a wood chipper. Since this information only appears in bonus material and is not confirmed in the main films, her death is considered unofficial. To this day, Kimberly remains one of the few characters believed to have truly escaped death.

Thomas Burke

Thomas Burke is a police officer who plays a key role in Final Destination 2. He works closely with Kimberly to understand the pattern of death and try to prevent further casualties.

Throughout the film, Thomas shows courage and leadership, allowing him to survive several disasters, including a major crash that should have killed him. Like Kimberly, Thomas never appears in any subsequent films and is not officially mentioned as having died.

However, the DVD bonus content for Final Destination 3 states that Thomas died alongside Kimberly in the same wood chipper incident. Since this supposed death is only mentioned in the extra content and not depicted on-screen, many fans question its legitimacy.

With no official confirmation, Thomas is still considered one of the only two characters to have beaten death in the franchise. His potential return in Final Destination 6 remains possible, especially if the film follows the current trend of bringing back legacy characters.
