Fans of the Overlord anime series can get ready as the latest movie project, which will feature the Holy Kingdom Arc (Sei Okoku-hen), will soon hit the big screen. The announcement was made through an Overlord television special, where main cast members such as Satoshi Hino (Ains), Yumi Hara (Albedo), and Masayuki Katou (Demiurge) hosted the event and shared exclusive footage from the movie.

The movie project was first announced during a special live event for the Overlord anime in 2021. Although full details about the cast and staff were not announced at the event, cast members from the television anime series, Hino, Hara, and Sumire Uesaka (Shalltear), made the official announcement and delivered messages from the television anime series' director and script supervisor.

The Overlord anime series first entertained Japanese audiences in July 2015 with 13 electrifying episodes. Funimation co-broadcast the series during its airing in Japan and released the English version on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in November 2016.

Overlord's popularity continues to grow with the success of the second series in January 2018 and the third in July 2018. Not stopping there, the fourth season of the anime premiered in July 2022.

Developed from the original light novel by Kugane Maruyama in 2010, Overlord presents a unique story in the year 2138 when the virtual reality game Yggdrasil is suddenly shut down. The protagonist, Momonga, decides not to log out, and transforms into a skull-shaped character as "the strongest wizard." Momonga's journey to rule this new world continues to be a highlight that captivates fans.
