Anime & Manga | 11 March
Roronoa Zoro is a swordsman who fights using three swords in almost every battle. He equips two on both hands and one in his mouth. Throughout his journey, Zoro changed swords several times for some reason. Here are the various swords that Roronoa Zoro wields to fight throughout his journey!
Roronoa Zoro's Swords
1. Wado Ichimonji
Originally, Wado Ichimonji was Kuina's sword, but now Zoro wields that sword and has accompanied him on his adventures from childhood until now. This sword is one of the 21 legendary O-Wazamono blades.
Zoro puts Wado Ichimonji in his mouth when using the Santoryu technique. When using the Ittoryu Iai: Shishi Sonson stance with this sword, Zoro could easily cut Mr. 1. Tashigi chased Zoro because she didn't want a legendary sword like this to be carried around by a pirate.
2. Yubashiri
The next legendary Zoro's sword is Yubashiri. Yubashiri was obtained by Zoro together with Sandai Kitetsu when he was in Loguetown. This sword is considered light but quite sturdy, allowing the user to move quickly and cut everything in the user's path.
Before being destroyed by a Marine named Shu in Enies Lobby, Zoro used to use Yubashiri on the Santoryu three-sword technique and together with Sandai Kitetsu on the Nitoryu two-sword technique. Shusui was replaced Yubashiri at the end of the Thriller Bark arc.
3. Shusui
Shusui is a sword that belongs to a legendary samurai Ryuma and is one of the types of O-Wazamono swords which are considered sacred in Wano. After being defeated by Zoro, Ryuma gave this sword to him proudly.
This sword is resilient and heavy, making Shusui possess extraordinary strength. With this sword, Zoro managed to withstand and parry Oars' giant punch with ease.
Like Sandai Kitetsu, Shusui is also considered "irritable" by Zoro which makes it difficult to use. Not only that, but Shusui is much heavier than Yubashiri, forcing Zoro to get used to it.
After his training with Dracule Mihawk, Shusui seems to be Zoro's favorite sword. He always wields it on the Ittoryu one-sword technique, compared to Zoro in the past who always used Wado Ichimonji.
4. Sandai Kitetsu
Sandai Kitetsu is another Wazamono sword. And like all swords made by Kitetsu, this sword is considered a cursed sword that will harm its owner.
Zoro got this sword in Loguetown. Initially, the sword was not for sale because it was cursed, Zoro managed to prove that he could beat the curse and was finally rewarded with both Sandai Kitetsu and Yubashiri. Even though he wasn't injured during the test, Zoro felt that Sandai Kitetsu is a bloodthirsty sword and feels that his hand moved by itself.
Sandai Kitetsu is a sword made by Kitetsu which actually means the third generation Kitetsu sword. Despite being a very powerful sword, according to Tashigi's sword catalog, each generation of Kitetsu's swords is made weaker, with Sandai being the weakest and Shodai Kitetsu being the most powerful cursed sword.

5. Johnny and Yosaku's Sword
After losing to Mihawk and his sword was shattered, Zoro needs another sword to fight. When fighting Hachi at Arlong Park, Zoro borrowed Johnny and Yosaku's swords for a while. It turned out that he was able to help beat Hachi.
6. A Seppuku Blade
The seppuku (suicide) knife used by Zoro looks like a sword when he used it to finish off his opponents. It started when Zoro was accused of being a murderer so he had to be punished by committing seppuku. The innocent Zoro certainly defended himself even though he had to fight using a seppuku knife.
7. Kamazo's Scythe
In the middle of the Wano arc, Zoro faced Kamazou, who turned out to be Killer. Zoro defeated Kamazou using the latter's scythe which serves as his third sword. Even though he was able to win, Zoro lost a lot of blood because he allowed himself to be injured by the scythe.
8. Enma
Enma is one of the swords used by the late Kozuki Oden. If Ame no Habakiri is passed on to Momonosuke, then Enma is passed on to Hiyori. Hiyori then gave this sword to Zoro in exchange for Zoro returning Shusui to Ryuma's grave. This demonic sword can absorb the life energy of its wielder unless they are strong enough to resist it.
Thanks to Enma, Zoro was able to deal permanent damage to Kaido. This sword is also capable of splitting a mountain into two.
