The PUBG Mobile Super League (PMSL) SEA Summer 2025 Grand Final ended on Sunday, June 22, 2025, with the eArena team from Thailand winning the championship. On the third day, the match stopped at game 15 or game 3 on the third day because the eArena team had won the Smash Rules.
Maybe, if you are new to the PUBG Mobile competitive scene, you will be wondering what the term Smash Rules PMSL is. The format change in the PUBG Mobile competitive scene has been tested since last Spring. And with the Smash Rules PMSL, every team can win even though they don't have to make it to the last game.
However, there is a difference when this new format was tested last season and this season. In the last Spring season, the Smash Rules PMSL was applied during the second week of Super Weekend where the RRQ Ryu team became the winning team. However, in the Grand Final round there was no application of the Smash Rules PMSL.
In PMSL SEA Summer 2025, the Smash Rules PMSL was applied to the Grand Final round and not in the Super Weekend round. There are several important points that you must understand about Smash Rules PMSL, a new format that can increase the chances of all teams winning.
Explanation of Smash Rules PMSL in PUBG Mobile
In short, Smash Rules PMSL makes a team a winner when the team has reached the point threshold (+10 from the total points of the top team on the second day) and gets Winner Winner Chicken Dinner (WWCD) as the closing of their victory.
That's what happened with eArena, when they have met all the requirements, they can be declared the winner or champion. The same thing can also happen to other teams as long as they meet the requirements. So, in fact, the results achieved on the third day are the accumulation of the struggles of the previous days.
Here are some things that can help you understand Smash Rules PMSL:
1. In 3 Days, All Teams Collect as Many Points as Possible
The PUBG Mobile Super League Grand Final runs for 3 days. This means that on the first and second days all teams must collect as many points as they can get. Maximize your efforts to get a position in the top 3 or top 5 to get closer to the match point threshold. If you fail on the first day, then all teams can maximize on the second day.
The results obtained on the first day must be improved again on the second day. At the end of the second day, the team that successfully occupies the first position will be the determinant of the match point threshold added with 10 points. For example, the eArena team on the second day got 138 points. This means that if added with 10 points, the total point threshold is 148 points.
2. Teams That Successfully Get the Point Threshold Must Get WWCD
Still continuing the explanation in the first point, if the team succeeds in getting the match point threshold, the next task is to get Winner-Winner Chicken Dinner. If they succeed in getting WWCD, then the team is immediately crowned the winner or champion.
When the team is crowned the winner or champion, the competition will automatically be stopped because the champion has been determined. So, the PMSL Smash Rules no longer require the competition on that day to last so long until the last game or an additional game must be held.
3. What if the Team That Gets the Points Threshold Does Not Get WWCD Until Game 8?
This condition can occur on the same day. When the teams have gotten the points threshold (match points) but have not managed to get WWCD until the end of the 8th game, then the committee will determine the winner from the team that managed to become the leader of the standings at the end of the competition.
For example, from game 1 to game 8, there have been teams that have gotten the points threshold (match points) but they have not managed to get WWCD. This means that at the end of game 8, the team with the most points as the leader of the standings will be the direct winner.
That's more or less the explanation of the PMSL Smash Rules that you must know. It doesn't mean that in one day a team can immediately win the match with just 1 to 3 games. Instead, their journey accumulates until the last day and finally the one who deserves to be the champion will be seen.
Do you think the PMSL Smash Rules still need to be adjusted further? If so, let's just wait and see what happens next.
